2019 has been a crazy year of snow for Utah, and my favorite local mountain range, the High Uintas Wilderness has been covered in snow much longer than in years past. So in order to avoid the snow and mud, Dane, Wasatch Will and I opted to check out a route on Boulder Mountain in southern Utah. Boulder Mountain is a massive forested plateau that sits above and to the west of Capitol Reef National Park. Many of the drainages and water that feeds Capitol Reef comes from Boulder Mountain. Much of the area sits above 9500' in elevation and is covered in aspen groves, ponderosa pines and is a haven for wildlife.
Enjoy this weekend trip in the Pleasant Creek area where we had the place to ourselves, enjoyed beautiful trails, fished small mountain streams and happened upon some elk enjoying an evening in Pleasant Creek Meadows.
Check out Will's video on his channel: / @wasatchwill

Love the Boulder! My great grandfather was one of the first settlers there. He set up seven of his sons with ranches. The Anasazi museum was the sight of my grandpa's last home stead. He died during the depression at his sawmill on the mountain. He also engineered the Hells backbone bridge. Me my dad nephew, uncles and, 4 older brothers used to spend 2 weeks camping at kings pasture we'd hike to a different lake every day and fish. It's my favorite place in the world

I love South Central Utah. I was just at Capitol Reef National Park, Escalanate, Boulder, Torrey, and Dixie National Forest. I love how many Ponderosa Pines there are. It's amazing how fast the landscape changes there. You can go from alpine forest to slick rock and canyon country. I didn't want to come back to SLC. haha

Great video as always! Love this place especially in the fall. Question for you..... when you fly your mavic in this area, do you experience the birds 🦅 swooping down on it? We flew ours in canyons south of Escalante this spring and had to land for fear of losing it. Happy Trails

@@BackcountryExposure Have you used a Granite Gear Crown? These two are in the weight and price range in which I'm interested. Oh, and ULA Ohm.
@BackcountryExposure
@BackcountryExposure 5 жыл бұрын
I have carried a crown one time, it didn’t fit my body good at all. So I’ve stayed away. I have limited experience with ULA, but in terms of frameless I own a couple different Waymark Gear packs and love those. I last year used the Gregory Optic and so far I’ve enjoyed the Optic more than the Levity. Just need more time with the Levity.

Ive been told that in order to film or vlog on a national forest or park is only legal if I don’t receive revenue. It’s Like other commercial uses of National Forest System lands or resources, commercial filming and photography requires a Special Use Permit, which is issued by the District Ranger or Forest Supervisor [Authorized Officer] of the relevant forest.
