@@davieswilson1595 Lol ..there is no other tribe as at that time who tried to fight for their freedom..they all gave in cause of mirror and alcohol and also some promised to help the whites (British) defeat the Ashanti’s … It was later the British had given scholarship for Ghana people to study abroad (America ,Europe) and knew the whites are nothing special and just like us Then they decided to fight for freedom.. ASANTIs did not need white man eduction to realize they are not special and are humans like us before they fight for freedom ..ASANTI was a big empire stretching from north (dagomba, cote Devoir to Togo ) to south …had good military system just like modern day military system..good trade system ,good judiciary system ..you just name it ..yet had no white education ..

If not the British who fought the Ashanti empire for 130 years, Ashanti's could have been stronger and powerful than the modern day Ghana because the king's had a vision which was far beyond the white people one British writer wrote that these Ashanti's are illiterate but their imagination and creativity is too huge, they have a capital town like Britain-London, they have a central king who lead all the king's, they have a seating plan in their palace which is similar to Westminster Abbey, they have an outstanding soldiers..Up-till now the Ashantis don't solely rely on government for development of their city.

Portuguese were the first to come to Ghana in 1492. They landed in Komenda. The king of Komenda at the time was called Kwamina Ansah. They did not build a castle because they started a barter trade. They will leave their ship with a boat loaded with wax prints (textiles)and put the clothes on the sand. Kwamina Ansah and his men will picked them and put down gold . The Portuguese will come and picked them. Later,Danish came and conquered the Portuguese and they control of the trade. The British came and destroyed the Danish. After that slave trade started.
