I was glad to see all the cars and trucks pulled off onto the side with blinkers on. Too often we see drivers hurtling forward into danger without paying attention, but these were weather-alert and stayed safe. That tornado was a monster. Thanks for sharing this impressive footage.

That's because they're rain wrapped sometimes and very difficult to see. However, I do agree, its amazing how unaware people are at times.

@llla_german_ewoklll6413
@llla_german_ewoklll6413 Жыл бұрын
@@railfanningpoints2.045 I 100% assure you that I saw it from my house. I am south of I-80 on the Iowa County side. I can see the cell tower North-West of where I live, just a pinch north of I-80, as well as some metallic gray silos that can be seen on google earth in the same direction. If you go to google earth and look at all the houses in the area, there are at least 30-40 that were within visible range. Not to mention, people in Williamsburg could see the tornado, which is the same distance to the tornado as to my house. I was south of the tornado so I knew it wasn't likely to come my way, and I was doing plenty of stupid checks to my south. Also, the hail was about pee sized right before the wall cloud passed me and the tornado was north of me headed for CR. I wasn't close enough to get photogenic pictures or even a good video. I assumed from my position that it was just the wall cloud going really low, but it was actually the tornado itself. I was close enough to see it, just not close enough to be in good video range or enough to see every bit of it from head to tail. ALSO The place where the video starts is on U avenue. On that same road just south of where he was turning on to I-80 is a place that was called Wasserbahn. It had three slides. One small one, and two long ones (blue and red respectively). My old friend Brian Boddicker used to live north of that place a ways. Wasserbahn was closed a few years ago because of the owner who supposedly ran a human trafficking chain. If you ask any locals in the area, they've probably heard of it. The owner was Thomas Smock. I think you're just jealous you didn't get to see that wall cloud drop like I did.
@llla_german_ewoklll6413
@llla_german_ewoklll6413 Жыл бұрын
@@railfanningpoints2.045 Lmao that's not true at all. The justice system used to operate purely off of testimony and physical evidence. You don't need a photo or video to prove something did or did not happen. You're just lazy and don't want to look into the evidence I put forth. You won't see wasserbahn listed on google maps, and it wasn't even shown in this video. I literally proved I lived in the area, and that I saw the tornado. If you needed video proof to know that something happened, then you might as well write off everything before the 1800s because there weren't even photographs back before then. Your rule is stupid and relies on a burden of proof which is unreliable. I could have taken someone else's video just as easy and upload it to youtube. If you actually look at what I wrote, you'd find I live within range of viewing the tornado. I don't think you're actually after truth though, I think you're just trying to ruin someone's day by being disagreeable and non-scientific in method.

This is a relatively uncommon cold-core event. Look up cold-core supercells for more info on what that means. They aren't super rare, but there are usually at least a few events like this per year in the upper-midwest. And with climate change and more unpredictable weather they will probably only get more common.

The size of the tornado does not indicate it's strength, there can be wedge shaped EF-1's and skinny EF-5's. The Fujita scale rate tornadoes based on the damage they do, so if the tornado has EF-5 wind speeds but only happens on open farmlands damaging only small trees, it can be rated only EF-0 or EF-1 because of that.
