Sumeetji you have worked hard to show us the essence of road infrastructure and traffic management in China. India has to learn a lot from China. Everything takes time. I remember the days back in mid 2000's where US news channels used to mock China for its driving indiscipline in chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Gongzhou inspite of building great roads. The main conclusion those days was that Chinese society was not ready for modern roads, trains and conveniences. But in 20 years the population has adapted to 1st world way of living. It takes a generational change for the attitudes to change after modern roads and railways are introduced

First of all, Chinese are a people are exceptional since the beginning of time. They slacked off and slept in the last 200 or so years. But deep down, their culture and people are exceptional. They are the basis of East Asian cultures. Once there are good policies and strong governments in place, Chinese EXCEL THROUGH THE ROOF. Second, Chinese government is authoritarian with Chinese characteristic. What it means is that Chinese government considers itself as the "FATERH AND MOTHER" of the Chinese society. They could be harsh to their children sometimes, but their main focus is making everyone in the family better, and making the house better. Although there are abuses and corruptions, the main energy spent by the Chinese government is lifting up China as a nation and as a society. Many Western media focus, with propaganda purpose, of the Chinese government abuse and corruption. But they ignore the majority of Chinese government energy on national improvement. That is why you keep hearing how bad China is, but as soon as you are in China, you suddenly realize China is WAY AHEAD in so many areas. Third, China practices Win-Win diplomacy around the world. They do not spend much money in waging wars around. The LAST WAR China had was with Vietnam in 1979! Yet throughout the last 30 years, there are systematic "conflicts" with China, by nations around China, with the push from US, to make the IMPRESSION that China is aggressive. Of course if you engage with conflict, you will feel aggression. But everyone lost the sight that CHINA DID NOT INVADE. They did not invade India. They did not invade Taiwan (which is in suspended Civil War with Mainland China). They did not invade Philippine. And they did not invade Australia. Yet people talks about Chinese aggression as if they are invading. US, on the other hand, ACTUALLY invaded 18 countries in the last 40 years. Can you see the differences? China is under constant "conflict" yet US actually "invades". As result, China could spend most of their energy in building trade relationship with other nations which are not engage in "conflict" with China. And there is no massive amount of energy and resources wasted in actual invasion. The money is well spent. So in summary, Chinese are exceptional to begin with. Chinese government actually focus on improving China. And China does not spend too much energy in international conflict. So they could build up China better.

I feel the great infrastructure story of China is its authoritarian government and India lacks behind because of its democracy. I feel the entrepreneurial group in India is much better placed and a lot more independence than China where there is constant fear of the Government. To tell you frankly I as a business person in India perceive a great sense of freedom and security in India than China. But to tell you flat we envy China’s growth but mostly everything in China is of utmost secret. Thanks Sir but you have been a conduit for understanding many aspects of China including your wife’s food habits wherein u mentioned in a video that everything below the gullet is stomach only.

I think in a country like India with a billion people we need some kind of autocracy to see real development. Democratically its perhaps difficult to control so many people. China could develop so hugely because only the markets in China is capitalists in nature but the government is communist/autocracy . Unless we Indians are made to understand things with a stick ,we do not learn. We do not value any rules of law. Rules in China are very strict and everyone is bound to follow the rules because of fear of law. Currently our PM is trying hard to bring some kind of development but what is the guarantee that his successor or may be the next government of a different political party would continue the same reforms which the current party is doing. In China it was Deng Zhiaoping who stated to bring changes in late eighties and the same development process continues till today. Let us all hope that we make real economic progress in the next 20-25 years under a stable government.

India is 20 yrs behind in infrastructure development compared to china ,also Chinese people have great civic sense and discipline.

China hosted olympic games already, how much time after will india be capable to host olypic games thwn u will compare how behind u r?. if fifa will give chance to host football worldcup then they are already well.prepared to haost infrastructure wise. But west don't let them to host easily coz world willl knows uograded china... Is india well prepared for that?? c
