The performance of these homemade bar clamps / Panel clamps is Awesome! they might be my favorite shop clamp build of all. They will come in handy in many of my woodworking projects and are pretty straight forward to build.

You're a treasure! I am here in Paraguay and money is tight for most carpenters. Store bought clamping systems are impossible to find or too expensive. I am going to share this with my carpenter buddy and make these for my own shop that I am setting up. You North Americans have no idea how spoiled you are in terms of choice and low price levels for your tools, relatively and absolutely speaking. Thank you Izzy for creating these ideas for tight budgets!

I have watched many diy videos on clamps. These are by far the most effective ones. What I like about your work is you don't complicate things. You produce results in the simplest way and that's genius. Great work!

Of all the 4-way panel clamp designs that have appeared on YT of late this is the best design of the concept. Quick open access capability removes the only negative of the 4-way concept. Excellent. Now lets trick it out.

Love these clamp. Make everything out of oak and face wedges with sheet metal. This might reduce bulk and improve wedging action. Might also look at uni-strut for bars to reduce bulk. Basic concept is spot on, great job.

I have been on a welding kick lately, and this is something I think I might try to do. I just taught a two-week class for some guys trying to get back into the workforce. Welding, metal cutting and finishing and their class project was a rocket stove. These guys are being trained through a local college, and some are coming out of the criminal justice system. One thing I have learned from you, Jimmy and other KZfaqrs is passing on what I've learned to help others. Keep being you Izzy, you make the world a much better place. They had a company come into today the final day to interview them for jobs welding dumpsters. I like teaching as much as I do learning.

The downward pointing ramps on the ends does a great job of tightening and pushing the top and bottom bars into the work surface. I use cauls for the same purpose, but it is integrated into this clamp design.

What an incredibly ingenuitive idea! In the back of my head I keep thinking it'd be nice to do something with glue laminated slabs, but haven't wanted to drop a ton of money on a bunch of clamps I probably wouldn't use too often. These would be PERFECT (if I ever end up having a project that needs a large glue up. Thanks for sharing!

GREAT design! Im going to make a set of these with a few minor changes using round metal tubing for the stops and clamping screw parts. I've been looking for a way to accomplish this type of clamping without paying Rockler $140 a clamp. I think that this design might even have better clamping strength pertaining to the down force as well. I love your channel. The way your mind works saves mine from having to! Super cool, good design. Yes, metal is the next step for sure, probably thinner end blocks but thicker cross sections and pins on the top. Or maybe a short leg I-beam into grooves on top to keep everything square under pressure? Theres all that potential slop in the pin in wood. Anyway, super good idea, nice geometry, and yeah all the comments on how to improve your idea, you've got it already. Nice work.

I'm loving this clamping system. I really wish you would have come out with this video about 5 days ago because the past few days I've been glueing up 2 inch pieces of maple flooring for my breakfast bar. If I could have made your clamps I could have done it in one shot rather than 3 pieces and then glued all 3 together with ratchet straps and buckets of concrete and cinder blocks to keep it flat. Great idea and I have a couple of bed frames I was figuring out how to use to make your clamps as I watched your video. I can't wait to see how you make them out of metal.

Six people don’t understand the concept of the inclined plane. 😂 I think it’s genius and very simple, will try and add this to my micro shop somehow. One could build these at any scale so especially for small or extra large glueups this could really help as it cuts out 50% of the number of clamps needed, and means one could clamp up small fiddly bits evenly and neatly too. Thanks for sharing, Izzy!

I could see this being a dedicated table in my shop. Have this system as the table top surface that’s always ready to go. If you need to use it as a table top just put a piece of plywood on top and you have a work surface available on top of the glue up. That’s if your shops tight for space otherwise just dedicate a portion of your shop to it. It’s game changing enough to take up real estate in the shop for sure. I can also imagine a bunch of things to do in addition to or alongside this setup. Good stuff as always!!

Izzy, I love it. You have inspired me! I will be making a set of these shortly. I just wish I had this years ago. I will be painting mine with glue. :) For glue resistant surfaces, I take some water based glue likeTightbond II and thin it. It makes for an ungly yellow finish. After some wax on that, the result is a fairly glue proof surface. Since this clamps across and down, I am considering adding a way to extend this vertically so I can use it for boxes.
