Incredible Journey from Gokteik Viaduct to Pyin Oo Lwin - Myanmar Railways (Burma) trains

Facinating journey from Gokteik station to the town of Pyin Oo Lwin, on the 132 Down Train travelling southwest on the Mandalay to Lashio line, in the Shan States of Myanmar (Burma). This is a snapshot of an incredible journey and the stations visited en route, and we see lots going on as people arrive, depart, or are just there to sell their goods.
The stations visited along the journey are as follows:
Nawnghkio 3:50
Hsam Ma Hse 15:25
Sin Lan Su 18:30
Wet Wun 21:20
Pwe Kaul 27:00
The train leaves Pyin Oo Lwin at 08:22 and arrives at Hsipaw at 14:38, and is pulled by Chinese CNR locomotive, maufactured by Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co. Ltd., which had a 2000 hp CAT engine.

Super video! Am floored by the virgin vegetation and cannot come to terms with the level of simplicity the burmese people exhibit, maybe not a choice! Makes me want to see more Burma videos, thank you for your efforts!

100 per cent facination.How ever does it stay on the tracks. Amazing footage. I've never ever seen anything like it especailly the little rodent taking a ride. Amazing Mark.a big thank you for the entertainment

I must apologise, I uploaded the video last night and it went public, forgot to make it private, so as a consequence it didn’t any information with it, etc, but thats sorted now, if you wanted to know a bit more about the trip. Yes, amazing the train stays on the rails, think its a combination of the track and the trains suspension. After a days travel you feel like you have been on a boat out at sea, but a fantastic journey, the Myanmar Railways are amazing, lovely scenery, people and a rich history. There are a few more videos like this, including a closer look at the viaduct, to come. 😀

LOL! .. LOL! Never seen something like this before, ever! Train approaching men doing last minute repairs on the lines and wait for them to get out of the way! Incredible. ..and, also the train acting as a huge lawn mower cleaning up scrub as it goes! It's just fascinating to watch. I guess there's no safety authority in this country to apply minimum standards. Do you know if they have many derailments? ..and, you taking a bit of a risk hanging outside the window with all these vegetation and trees touching the carriages. Well done, it's a unique film and experience and I thank you for sharing it with us.

These Burma railway videos are fascinating -- much more so than most of the ones showing perfect hi-tech trains running on perfect tracks. Switching & signaling all done with manually operated switches and colored flags, and they get the job done. I feel bad for the people. Looks like a hard life over there. Sometimes I find myself complaining about things that are, comparatively, so damned trivial. I need to stop that.

Thanks for the comment, its appreciated. It is a facinating railway, but is now starting to change fast, and much of the history I fear will be lost in the process. Its certainly a lovely way to travel.

Great video Mark, I just love the people scenes and the lush tropical vistas along the journey, classic Burma. Wooden seats in economy class and coach seats in first class, still a clean and tidy interior, unlike some Asian countries trains. Waste of 2,000hp of the locomotive, the train would be lucky to reach 50KMh max track speed!

Great video. A real sense of place. The rocking train plowing through the vegetation. Thank you! Is that a daily train? Do you meet other passenger trains at any point on the route? Do they derail often?

Thank you very much, really appreciate your comment. Yres its a daily service, and there are cross over points with other trains. If you look in my Myanmar playlist there are other videos of the same line, but different areas. I suspect derailments are a common thing, but I don't have any figures to quote, sorry

@@MarkRobinson555Oui, Merci bien pour les détails de voyage. La locomotive CNR de la Chine. Actuellement, il y en a environ 70 en Thaïlande . La plupart des locomotives sont Alsthoms de la France.
