Even though apparently the Chimp brain is ever so slightly larger, it appears the Chimp is burdened with incredibly fear and aggression. It seems that overall Orangutan is more intelligent because it can think more calmly as a result of being less aggressive and less fearful.
@KatieBellino
@KatieBellino 11 ай бұрын
Chimps seem to be more prone to psychopathic behavior. With such close dna to them, humans can likely learn a lot about some of our mental illnesses by studying chimps. On the flip side, orangutans seem to encompass our empathetic, community-minded traits.

Orang Utan means Person of the Forest. They really are like us, with emotions and culture. I consider any harm to them to be just as bad as harm to a Human.

Agreed. Unforunately most humans are arrogant morons and are entirely unaware that we share the planet with many other sentiant species. From a bee hive which is collectively self aware but not very bright, to the large whales who are smarter then us, and many gradations in between.

I agree. After watching primate videos for 7 years, in general, the orangutans definitely have the ability of more intelligence over gorillas & chimps. They are more laid back & less aggressive.

@@niallrussell7184 I know! I've always been interested in great apes but never knew that bonobos existed until I was in my 30s! As a kid growing up in the 60s and 70s I recall that movies and television presented gorillas as aggressive and scary but just about every children's show or sitcom had at least one episode with a chimp. Back then chimps were presented as cute and cuddly little people, and I think that's true prior to puberty but it was a real shock in the 80s and 90s when we started to see that mature chimps can be scary as hell and dangerously aggressive, but gorillas much less so. And then to find out after all those years that TV and movies had completely ignored bonobos!

I know exactly how they feel I have been in prison before and ever since I don't look at animals in cages the same you see them looking out at a freedom they cant have you see them longing to be on the other side and I know all to well what that feeling is like sometimes you just want to break down please don't keep your animals in cages they have a mind they know that they aren't free I can see it in their eyes they are much more intelligent than we realize you would never want to feel that helpless feeling trust me I can't even describe that feeling there aren't words to describe it

While i can't be sure what was actually going on...I once saw someone do quite an athletic slip and fall in front of 2 orangutans. They started laughing before I could, but as the poor woman who'd fallen rolled to her side holding herself in pain the apes became concerned. Now, anthropomorphism is what it is, but I swear they seemed...embarrassed for their laughter, or maybe just regretting it...they did know and like the woman who had fallen.
