Beast Breaker is a turn-based, mouse-bouncing adventure. You play as a tiny warrior named Skipper, tasked with defending innocents from giant mosaic beasts that threaten to destroy everything.
The Let's Try series is a way to preview / review games in order to get my first impressions through the first moments of gameplay.

The game combines satisfying pinball physics with tactical decision making. Pick a style of attack, line up the best angle, and launch! Watch Skip careen around the screen and break the giant beasts to pieces.
Along the way, you will meet a vibrant cast of characters who will help you craft equipment, master unique new fighting styles, and maybe even discover the origin of the Beasts...

The narrative feels slightly at odds with what I would consider to be the optimal way of playing the game from what I saw here at least. Given that breaking the little cores gives you materials for crafting gear, it definitely feels like you want to take as long as possible, cracking every other core before the main core, while the storyline tells you that they're super dangerous murderbeasts that should be eliminated ASAP to protect people lol Maybe that's just my greedy little goblin brain though.

I think it does fit. You're balancing killing the beast swiftly and not risking a rampage (thus saving that particular village), vs maximizing sprite gathering at the risk of losing the village (for saving the world... Apparently?)

@@Meoiswa In that case rather than resetting the rampage I feel it should increase by a set amount to a maximum.

I feel like every game does this. Stuff like Skyrim where you are worried about dragons trying to rip the world apart, but the optimal route is to go help the merchant recover his wares from a cave. Most games aren't usually about rushing the story, but I never felt like it was "at odds" with the narrative. Its just something you deal with due to the way the medium works.

It reminds me of Monster Hunter, the way you take longer in a hunt to break parts in order to collect materials and make better gear. Probably more similar to that than a roguelike

I think the lore implication is that these beasts are huge and powerful, so you have to whittle them down by destroying their cores before landing a decisive blow to finish it off

Collecting the motes does not work like you thought it did. You did not collect the one on the ground when you beat the third boss. There’s something different happening

You get two or so for the final kill, but you miss out on all the other ones, even if they are on the ground. I think every core drops a mote, so you are missing a lot of them every battle.

This game sure looks fun but I can't get past the opening cinematic. It just won't move past it, he won't look over at the sword and pick it up. I guess my mouse was a cowered who stayed in the basement. :( I had to refund it.

While I understand you might not like Epic, you do get 1-3 free games every week. I won't say their store front is good, but they do have some great games.

Epic isn't competition. Thats like me shooting all my opposition in the leg and coming to the race cuz I can't beat them. Exclusivity is not competition and I don't believe in it so I will never get epic
