Women from the 437th Airlift Wing and the 315th Airlift Wing located at Joint Base Charleston, SC, in conjunction with women from the Army 82nd Airborne Division located at Pope Army Airfield, NC, celebrated Women's History Month with an all-female flight and airdrop.

Wow! That’s one big airplane. When I was in the C-141 was the big bird. Not even close to this one. Glad to see all these young lady paratroopers and of course the flight crew. One of my daughters is retired Air Force, but I don’t believe she was ever on a flight crew. Her husband was, for a while, a load master in a C-130 squadron. Keep up the good work ladies. Our great and gracious GOD bless you all. Shalom, shalom.

That was very cool. I had an uncle who was in the Airborne in Korea and I got all the books out of the library on paratroopers that I could. You know what they didn’t talk about? Getting the static lines back in the plane! I never really thought about that until seeing this, and it’s interesting to see how it’s done. Takes a ton of muscle. Kudos to everyone involved here.

As a long retired old Msgt. that ramp at pope is still familiar to me - but the birds were C141's and C5A's. You women are getting it done, the USAF is still in good hands. Keep it up.

Great video! Now I know why they rush you out the door and it is to help the soldier eliminate some of the fear. It would be terrifying to stand at that door and waiting.

No, because the plane is over the drop zone for only about sixty seconds depending on how long it is. The more troops you drop the less exposed the plane is to ground fire. If that plane gets hit and goes down with two hundred troops in it you’ve just lost half a battalion. The more troops out the less time over the area and the less exposed the plane. Also, the less passes it has to make over the drop zone, the less exposed it will be. That’s why they rush out the door, the feelings of the troops has zero to do with it.

WRONG. Everyone needs to go out the door FAST so that everyone lands in the same COUNTY. The slower your troops are getting out the door, the more spread out they will be on the ground. You lose, thank you for playing, the door is over there.

those are incredible women, so easy for to watch, but put yourself in their seats, you will admire those bravely women, I was infantry VET and I know how it felt on the first jump in Airborne School, all you think in your mind is you will de dead anyway and just do ít!

Like Tim Keener Sr. said; what plane was that? I jumped from C-130 and half-face and stepped out of C-141s. The chutes are very different too when I was in, we had the T-10 Bravo and these new chutes look like a line server's hair net in the chowline. The new aircraft looks gigantic. Knees to the breeze and a full canopy.

I lived in North Carolina back in the 1980's. Many, many great military bases. Viet-bragg is one of many. Another favorite was Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. The marines have bases there also.

Pretty cool, but why are they jumping without eye pro? If one of the gets blown off course and goes into the trees, it could be bad.

Back in the 1970's we jumped with a double L parachute. Not much control. Pull hard on the risers but it didn't do much when headed toward trees in a strong wind. One time I landed like 160 pound sack of potatoes in a strong wind, and it felt like it too. Laid there stunned for a few moments while the wind was dragging me around. Glad to see they have better gear today.

I have been inside a C-5 before. Massive airplane. You could play basketball inside of one. Able to haul unreal loads too. Kick butt - take names. USA! USA! I love it.

I am proud of them. Glad they didn't have to jump the T-10C parachutes, a full chalk, or out a C-130 on Luzon DZ.

Yep women can be far more active at various task in our military, jumping from a perfectly good airplane is not a normal thing many wish to do. To do this type of jump over a hostile landing zone opens doors many choose not to discuss. Grats to the ladies for their accomplishments, let us hope we do not need them to do a jump over hostile grounds.

I reach out to the Female crew.. GREAT fantastic job. There a credit to all female everywhere. Shows that women can to the same job as men can. And on some cases to it better.
