Damn! I recently started working in an internal SOC and I'm making 70k lol. I worked as a ABA technician and pivoted to IT. I did the Google Cybersecurity Certificate, then got Sec+. I broke into IT as a help desk/sys admin for 5 months. After 5 months someone from the internal SOC left and the SOC lead asked me if I'd like to join the SOC. I immediately said yes. I was the right person at the right time. I'm now working on CYSA+ and THM SOC lvl 1. I should have CYSA soon. I'm scoring 76%+ on Jason Dion's CYSA practice tests and scored 80s on assessment tests.

I just found your channel and will be watching more videos. I just graduated with an associate in Computer Science and planned on going into network administration until looking into more jobs in this field. I found SOC Analyst and am focusing on this route now. I am working on getting my Security + and working on building a home lab, and working on labs from HTB and other sites like it. It will significantly change my daily life, from being a diesel mechanic to a cyber job.

I’ve been trying to land a soc position with no experience for 8 months. And yes I have certification and many projects. Nothing much you can do if companies do a hiring freeze.

Does SOC Analyst role also has variations? Like SOC analyst with IoT focus, Soc analyst with IR focus, and so on. And if that is so then won't it get narrow to find the relevant job role that matches my cybersec domain expertise?

I'd argue that writings on a piece or paper is a form of information technology. This isn't typically the type of information technology most people think of when they hear IT, though. Or maybe if we remember the times when a computer was a job title, then perhaps the paper the computer wrote on could be information packets that were then sent to another computer... Or maybe I'm just overthinking this comparison... 🤔 Anyway... Great video, as always!
