I'm just impressed they managed to fit the word "disassociate" in there.

Blake’s voice acting on that last line always gets me. He’s truly incredible, both here and in the actual show. ❤

The song itself is incredibly good and knowing the context behind it makes it hard to listen to without feeling something. It's so freaking dark and emotional.

2:35 - I feel like you are 100% right! while watching the show I saw the abuse and torture, but when I just see the words I can FEEL his soul being corroded with every vile act and fake smile.

nice to see a guy for once who listens to the lyric and analyze the story and meaning instead of just being like: Nice beat :D XD

Very glad you stopped on the disassociate line. Lyrically that was the strongest line for me. And of course the break in his voice at the end hit emotionally the hardest. But yeah as someone that has gone through a dissociative period its not fun.

Thc makes you disassociate if in high enough concentration, but for me I liked it, strangely, idk what that means but, maybe it's cuz of what happened to me in the foster system as a kid? Idk, but I like it (not gonna say exactly what happened, but in multiple homes I was hard R worded by multiple older boys throughout different homes..)

@@optimusprime7243 You kinda said what and I am very sorry to hear that. But you survived it and that counts for something. Disassociation is a survival tool. It triggers when the mind is taking on more than thje waking portion can handle. The subconscious pilots things until it feels safe enough to return control to the waking mind. So surviving is its goal. And we both seem to have survived.

I love that when addressing the lyrics you are not just addressing the musical aspect of it but also the deeper meaning and psychological aspects ( which are profound in Hazbin Hotel). The combination of both is awesome. Just wanted to tell you that in case your were worried about it. Please keep doing it as you like, it's great !

hey very good video, i liked how you broke down every part of the song and u didnt just hear it without adding anything, if i could request anything i would like seeing you react to the album Hawaii:Part II (there is no part I so dont worry bout that) from miracle musical, is a very deep album, roughly the whole album is only 30 minutes and if you hear it in order it tells a hidden story!! Greetings from Spain!

This is one of my favourite songs. I have CPTSD (complex post-traumatic stress disorder), and it hurts that the song is relatable, but it's a reminder that I'm not alone. We're not alone in our suffering.

When I was 15 I wrote a poem about how I have to hurry hurry to fill my "glass" that I had to collect all those drops. This song reminds me of that feeling how something is always missing and you just try try to fill that blank. Now I'm soon 50 and still that glass is maybe half way but that's cos I haven't really found those things I'm always looking for. I'm not an addict of some such, these lyrics just remind me of this feeling that's always there

Even without the context of what's going on in this scene, Angel's voice actor makes you feel every narrative beat. The little break in his voice on the word "ruthless", and at the end, his voice not just broken but shattered. I've listened to this song so many times I've lost count, but it hurts every time.

Heya, Roar. Idk if you still read comments on these old vids, but holy shit.. I’ve seen a few of your reactions, but your commentary on this and Addict have really sold me on your channel. Idk how else to describe it other than you just get it… You really FEEL the emotions put forth in the music, and that’s such a refreshing separation from other channels that just focus on breaking down lines and stuff. That’s not to say that you don’t, because you definitely do in more lyrically complex songs, but some music is meant to be FELT, and you really feel it. Keep rocking your shit, dude. Stay on the grind and you’re gonna pop off like crazy, I know it.

Actually you can react to the show. I've seen other people do it by either not showing the screen, only showing the screen sometimes or having an overlay over the screen. Sometimes muting the song and other times just skipping through parts. In any case I would love to see you react to the show! I wanna know what you'd think of the visual context of this song.

Well unlike EDM music where simple bass patterns can be prevalent the whole way through, pop kinda has to switch it around a lot to keep things fresh unfortunately.

Think you're too tech brained......... That was real at the end. That wasn't faked.....
@RoarTheRapper
@RoarTheRapper 7 ай бұрын
We’re talking two different things I think. Obviously the emotion of the song was the pain Angel’s going through, I’m just remarking that in order to sing while crying at the same time, you gotta not actually cry, it’s a technique!
@vinnie666
@vinnie666 7 ай бұрын
@@RoarTheRapper I mean.... I dunno there. I can sing this song, but not without actually tearing up. getting that emotional is literally the only way I can hit those lines..... probably an autistic disagreement on technique.
@RoarTheRapper
@RoarTheRapper 7 ай бұрын
@@vinnie666 yeah it seems to me like maybe we’re not seeing eye to eye is the semantics of vocal performance. I’m not saying that the singer in question was faking the emotion, I think you can very well feel the emotion of the song and should when you’re performing the lyrics, I just know that in terms of actually singing, if you start crying while you’re singing the song, you’re not gonna be able to hit the notes as well as if you just learned to perform the song very clearly and then add a little bit of emotion to your voice in order to still hit those notes.
@vinnie666
@vinnie666 7 ай бұрын
@@RoarTheRapper I don't disagree... but, I feel like this is kinda comparable to the biggest hurdle for classical musicians.... not playing by rote.... the worst thing a classical music teacher can tell you is that your performance has no soul, no love, no personality.... no matter how good you are, in those emotional times.... it's not supposed to be perfect. it's supposed to be a little different every time...... because that's what makes it real. anyway, much love.
