What’s the movie Indecent Proposal about?
David (Woody Harrelson) and Diana Murphy (Demi Moore) are a married couple and have loved each other since highschool. Diana is a top-notch real estate agent and David is a talented architect hoping to establish himself by designing their dream project: a beachfront house in Santa Monica in which the lovers have invested everything they have. However, when the recession hits, their finances take a nosedive. In a last desperate effort to save their land from being repossessed, they head to Las Vegas determined to win the money through gambling. Unfortunately, they eventually lose everything. That’s when John Gage (Robert Redford), a mysterious billionaire, makes them a bold offer: he’ll give them $1 million if he can spend a night with Diana.

It just one night, and the money last forever. What a clever line because its actually the opposite. Its just one million dollar, but the night will last forever. Money come and go, bad memory last forever.

Both depend on the individual. A memory has as much impact on you as you allow it. It also is contingent on everything else in your life. That money if used and managed wisely can generate generational wealth. It can help others. It can create more good memories.

I watched this movie. It's really good, but he doesn't talk her into it. They talk about it while lying in bed, and mutually agree, then he wanted to back out of it at the last minute and tried to stop them, but John Gage had Diane flown to his yacht. Other than disagreeing on the details of how it all came about, I 100% agree with you about the husband. He was a complete jackass, who pushed her away, and I hated that she went back to him.

Money can’t buy dignity and it can definitely not restore it once you’ve given it up. If you have a perception of the world where dignity and self esteem aren’t important or you view them as fluid depending on the situation, then you may well be able to live with making a decision such as this. But the money may well taste cheap and the things you buy with it may not hold the same level of enjoyment if you have to sacrifice who you are or what you stand for, to gain it.

Reminds me of the poor kids and people in Hollywood selling themselves to the devil they know all for fame and money? It's like hey if you dont wanna get passed around like a cheap hat then there's a line out the door of people who are more than willing to take your place. Even if they don't realize it now that the price they pay is their soul.

My problem with this scene is twofold. 1. It’s a billiards scene that doesn’t show the table which is lazy filmmaking. 2. They are playing 8-ball and there are multiple solids on the table and there are at least two stripes on the table when Redford pockets the eight ball. (striped 14 & unpocketed three solids in the first part when Woody misses & striped 15 on the table while the 8 was dropping), After Woody misses his shot no ball is pocketed yet Redford immediately and cleanly pockets only the eight ball…It’s a scene in continuity so the dialogue and game of pool are in meant to be in alignment but the lack of attention to billiards details wrecks it for me. (I blame Redford, Paul Newman [Fast Eddie] would never have allowed this to happen!)

I can see the director is speaking through the balls on the table as the ball is entering the hole an idea is entering the mind and an Idea is like a seed from which a tree will grow and it will have many branches in the same way when an idea reaches mind we play with different parts of it. As an idea we will try to rationalize it and thus grows an idea from the idea, will make the presenter the villain so that the idea can be flushed. Will try to give the weight of choosing the other candidate and will try to absolve of pain of wrong but simultaneously clinging to the idea that the other one chooses the idea of which you have favourably thought. And the same way the lady is getting attracted by the forwardness and an idea emerges that husband for his sake chooses the idea of the night. As in Inception director plays with this concept in which the dream thieves get into the dream if cilian murphy and plant an idea that his dad wanted to make his own path.

To paraphrase Jesus Christ, what is the net gain if a person inherits the whole world but loses his/her soul in the process? Can you put a dollar amount on love, trust, the experiences that become the foundation of a strong bond, and the devastation mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually that inevitably comes when all of that is broken "in just one night?"

As an old married dude...let me sum up the ridiculousness of this situation. No rentals bro.... you either go all in and buy it or the deal is flippin off. When you are old and married its kind of like having a car you have become attached too. Heck let us even say it's a real sexy classic sports car (Demi Moore) it makes for an even better argument. You have taken care of it, the damn thing is temperamental, has to coerced and fiddled with and loved to perform right...it is very finicky and peculiar (you keep it clean and showroom ready) but you have earned your rights to drive it and own it because it is yours and you love and adore it. Then here comes this rich a-hole who wants to drive it till the wheels fall off and kill the breaks, possibly blow a gasket..wtf ever. No man. You either buy it out right....or not all. No joyrides and no rentals. Ready for a real stickler? Not driving a sports car to keep the miles low is like not having sex with your bottom "B" because you want to keep it good for the next dude.

Victims are forced to sacrifice their body to the perp but the❤will never belong to the perpetrator.

So: they had a happy relationship and money troubles. Someone offers to solve those issues and all they have to do is have sex one time. After that they would be millionaires. Is your relationship really that stable if it cant survive both of you *agreeing* to those terms? Why do people in relationships have to own each other? I agree that if one of them cheated it wouldn't have been okay but they agreed on it and then he treated her like she cheated. Is that fair? Really sounds like a hurt ego more than anything. Idk man. I'd rather be with someone who wants me to be free and myself than with someone who wants to own me. And because your message contained an insult here is mine: i pity the people you'll be with because you seem like a volatile, aggressive and controlling person. May they know the red flags and avoid you.
