Project teams often have to wear multiple hats - roles are not clear cut as listed in the books

We often use - 'BA or Scrum Master', are both of them responsible for the same purpose?

Both are in different methodologies....BA is in waterfall and their primary responsibility is to gather and document requirements. Scrum Master is in the agile domain and primary responsible for making sure the team is making progress towards sprint goals/development.
