Thank you - will try but so so much to be done in a short amount of time. I now need to have her fuel tanks inspected and the fuel removed, filtered and put back in because there is a risk that because the previous owner did not use her too much the fuel has got a lot of muck and water in the tanks.

Hi Robin what a cracking boat mate glad your back.I'm only 36 miles away from plymouth . I bet you cant wait to get out on the waves again.I just like to say you shouldn't care what people say about you buying it as at the end of the day you have done what you want to do and make it part of your dreams and that you have fun on it and may many a blog come from it. Well done! I've been following your thread on YBW Forums with interest. I took my first steps on the motor boating front in 2013 and have (only!) a 2004 Merry Fisher 925 which I love with an absolute passion. I have been upgrading her slowly since then. I will be following your vlog with great interest. Ignore the nay-Sayers on the YBW Forum - you are living your life as you wish to. I've got a bit behind with videos and what has been going on so far as the Boat. Got CP Fuel Polishing coming to clean the tanks and polish the fuel, not sure if needs doing but better safe than sorry. They recon 6hrs work +call out fee and millage from Poole - I was expecting a few grand, but £580.00 odd for 3,000 litres of fuel to be cleaned seems good.

Cheers - I will be doing videos in due time, need to bring her from Plymouth to Lowestoft in early 2018 so that will be fun to film over 300 Nm that trip.

Hi Ray, thanks - bit scary when you step back and see how much to do and the sheer size of the boat and the fact currently I am dealing with this alone which causes some interesting conversations in the Marina when people have found out I am the new owner.

Hi Robin Well you rascal you!!! This is excellent news, we are so happy for you I am sure you have done your homework and you have bought yourself a really good boat. I am not sure I will be doing all the things right, and sure the 'Armchair Admirals' will be along soon enough but I am not bothered, this is something I want to do and have been doing on my terms in my time even if that happens to go against the usual way one goes about this sort of thing. I have been to the boat last couple of weekends on the trot but have been cleaning mainly not much video to share so far.

Let me get this right, YOU have bought a 2002 Trader 535 Sunliner. Well done you. I have googled this vessel, looked at the images and it is a superb looking craft. Lovely lines to it.

She is rather - but everything about the boat is over sized, over engineered and some things frankly I don't want to think about if was to go wrong. I could have been sensible and got a nice home and settled down out of London but that would be someone else's dream, not my own. So I've put it all into this boat instead. She might not be very bling and fast but she is well built, safe and very comfy for spending long periods of time on - even if that is in a Marina.

What a lovely boat. I read about your plans for the changes in your life on NBN. Well done to you for living your dream. Better to have a go, even if things don't work out exactly as you hoped, than to be drawing your last breath and regret that you didn't have a go.

Great looking boat congratulations, may I suggest you use and play with her for a bit before changing too much. Also make sure if you install screens on the dash board,you won't suffer from glare and reflection. One of the reasons that work boats have screen leaning out at the top is to reduce glare. I will be in Lowestoft at the beginning of May helping my mate get his boat ready for Oostende Boat festival, another boozy w/e.

Congratulations on your recent purchase, I suspect a lot of the flack you received is just down to plain jealousy, as long as your happy with the purchase that's all that matters, after your many blogs on the broads you must know every bend in the river blindfolded by now and the excitement begins to wain, the urge for new discoveries starts to beckoning, I have spent over a dozen holidays boating on the broads but nothing compares with the excitement of the first trip, hopefully you will share some of your many new adventures with us, you could spend years just exploring the coves and marina's around England, if you run out of them you still have the Scottish lochs plus the 790 Scottish islands to discover, the rest of the world beckons, just don't envy you the fuel bill.

Well a fellow Robin eh? Yes it has been a gamble in some respects, but the plain for now is pretty basic - get her from Plymouth to Lowestoft and onto the Broads (south side) a nice mooring and then I can take my time making her 'mine' tidying up her decks and gel coat and upgrading as she needs it and this will make a good base to get used to her and leave for further longer trips in due course along our coast.

That is one very nice boat robin,im 44 and its something I've dreamt of owning since my first of many trips on the norfolk broads when i was 8,House or a Boat...A Boat every time,if it puts a smile on your face go for it,life's too short.Can i suggest a name for the tender,"MINKY"...oh and if you ever need a deck hand give me a shout lol...all the best,happy boating 🛥=😁

Thanks Sean, yeah with no kids and with youth (ha) just about on my side, I thought if I do not do this it will go forever. It took so much thought, years of working out things narrowing down possibilities and so on, and as my Mum said 'better to regret something you did than to regret something you never tried' - it is a a massive challenge not least because so much of this is new to me (despite knowing boats) and also because I ma headed off into this adventure needing to deal with a great deal of things people and learning largely alone.

Wow! Beautiful boat. Really pleased for you. How long has it taken to stop smiling? If your like me you will have stayed awake all night working out how far you can travel on 3000 litres of diesel. Hi Robin lovely boat I hope you have got prof that the VAT has been paid, I would be worried as you say she has come from Gibraltar which does not have VAT and you could be stuck with a huge VAT bill. You should have the original bill of sale stating VAT has been paid. Please let me know if you need any help with the motors and geny or Nav aides as I have friends in the trade that can help you and they know what they are talking about. All the best Chris.

Not only has the VAT been paid, all the original documentation has been translated back into English. She is part 1 registered and I have full credentials to prove ownership - it was the previous owner clearly who wanted to rule out any issues down the line for himself and went to such trouble to have the documents sorted by a Spanish Lawyer. I've got All Boat Services on with proving an estimate for the electronic installation of new SIMRAD equipment - they have looked after the boat for many years and having met the MD he is very decent chap and I feel since they know the boat well can trust them to her. Other aspects of the engineering will be done with myself and friends as we currently do on Broad Ambition so will only have to pay for parts not labour.

I'd say that was a good price and it gives you the reassurance that you have good clean tankage. What's her range at her most optimal speed then? I take it as well that she is RCD Category A? Look forward to the next instalment of "Independence - A skipper and his boat."

She is RCD A - but I am not happy about the tanks as it goes, or maybe I am just too cautious - so on 16th December am having a chap come to pump out the fuel and clean the tanks before having the fuel polished and put back into the tanks - I am then going to treat the fuel with a suitable product to prevent diesel bug growth. As for range, well I have no idea because there are very few of these boats with the Yanmar engines I have fitted - most have CAT's of between 420Hp to 660 Hp. So there is a lot to learn as we go so to speak.

Well, I bought her to live on her. Having got her to Norfolk, and having lived onboard her for 3 years, earlier in this year I sold her and now just have two boats - my Sheerline and Broad Ambition both of which feature in this channel.
