Thanks for uploading this tutorial Stephen as it was just what I was looking for as I needed to make sure that everything aligned to the baseline grid for a brand guideline document for myself. So if possible keeping making this videos as it's knowledge you struggle to find (Plus not in a confusing manner) else where.

@@stephenkelman_ sorry, I can't attach a screengrab here. Essentially, it would be awesome to see how you work with an H4, body copy, bullets (that run multiple lines) in the same text frame. This sounds basic, but I am having issues when aligning them to the baseline grid. The vertical spacing feels off. Hope this makes sense. Thanks.

Great video but i generally Think that the margin should be set to the xheight of the text pointsize and not the top of the f copy outlined.

Hello Stephen, another amazing tutorial with a different approach using the f height. One thing, that I'm not sure if you covered before, but how can we align the text to the left side, specially the headers. I use the Cap Height to align it at the top, but didn't find any solution to align it to the left side. What am I missing?

@@stephenkelman_ I think you will get it now. My header starts with the letter "D", and like the word "Presentation" from this video, I can't align it completely at the very left because of the letter shape. The white space around the letter that may vary, depending on the letter, makes it impossible (at least I think) to align automatically. I can do it by hand, but I also know that can make the overall text look unbalanced, depending on the situations. What are your thoughts? In single headers, with a lot of white space around, do you often align them to the very left manually, or you just never do it? Sorry for the long threads :D Cheers I love your videos

Hi Stephen, great video as always. I'm just wondering if you've ever encountered an issue with setting up your document grid, baseline grid, and margins to pages _and_ spreads. I've set up a document in InDesign and all is well, however the document grid is different on the first page than on the rest of the document, (cover page vs spreads). As in it's the same dimensions, but the document grid itself is misaligned between Page 1 and Pages 2-3. Page 4 (being the last page of the document) seems to be unaffected and is aligned with 2-3. Have you come across this? I'm wondering if it's a bug or if it's there for another reason. Wondering if there is a fix. I don't know a better place to ask about grids than this channel!

Hi Scobed… I don't think you can have a document grid with a different origin on the same spread. I might be wrong, so let me know if you come across a fix.

Hi. I'm unsure how to actually add a baseline grid, and didn't want to follow other tutorials considering the differences in measurement others might've had (plus, I like your layout way better). I would probably be confident adding baseline grids on my own if I knew your measurements. Can you lend me some guidance?

Hi SB… print out some options for your body copy. Choose the one that works best, then use that leading value for your baseline grid. That can then inform your margins etc

I'm following along with the video but after adjusting the top margin with the f-height value, the text of any text box i align to the top margin jumps down to the next line of the baseline grid. Is this typeface dependant or am I doing something wrong? I'm using Poppins. Cheers

Thanks for sharing ! Question I did not understand how did you get the text to align to the top of the text frame? Meaning for instance in the "A2 Landscape" title there is no space between the "A" and the top of the text frame. Appreciate if you could clarify that. Many thanks

I think I've got it, Its a Text Frame Option > Baseline Options > First Baseline > Cap Height (Right?)

Is there anyway to set up a modular grid system that also aligns with the baseline grid; in which the top of images align with the cap height and the bottom of images align with the descenders? Or is the only possible without the baseline grid?

Hi Joel, yes, it should work if the lower guides of the image grid are offset from the baseline grid, which should be relatively straightforward to setup
