After Bengal election Results.. Thousands of Hindus got tortured, their shops were burnt, many got hanged, many ladies got GangRay_ pd, many were kicked out of bengal, many ran to Assam for refuge leaving their everything.. TMC terrorists literally killed Non-TMC voters.. But this lady mahua Moitra who is from same party is Talking about democracy. Same party has killed many non-TMC party members especially BJP members and has GangRay_ pd women workers. But You won't find it any bad. Because For you MODI that can't even clear out road blockade is bad. One day this pain will Revolt. It's Nature. BJP has made many mistakes but it never kills other party members neither congress has killed other party members.

Even I feel the same as Mahua Moitrs. Today I am 50 but I feel earlier India was more secular and democratic. My father was in the IAF and I stayed with Muslims, Sikhs and Christians in the same block. But today's generation has become so intolerant. 'Unity in diversity' is certainly in danger.

Earlier india has seen emergency, nasabandi of Hindus only , 3000 Sikhs death and attack on sikh temple, Bombay blast, 26/ 11 attack, 1200 major communal riots between Hindu and Muslim. Compare to that in last 8 yrs no terror attack inside India and very few communal violence.

Like minded people are ruling our country, that's the reason we have so called "Council of Ministers" who are "collectively" responsible to the parliament. As far as your second argument is concerned, i.e. India not being inclusive, you need to clarify what kind of inclusiveness are you talking about. Are you speaking from the perspective of a "Common Civil Code", then I am sure majority of Hindus wouldn't have any problems with that, instead the minorities would definitely rebel against the same. Or, if you are saying that things should be done such that nobody's sentiments are hurt, well then I am sure you can understand the magnitude of diversity that exists in our country. You can't make everyone happy. So, if you are butt-hurt then it's not because government is evil, it's because government's priorities are not aligned with yours. So, instead of expressing sorrow and discontent, make peace with the fact that you can't do anything about it atleast till 2024 General Elections. All the best for the same. :)

lol..hypocricy at its best..the guy who is talking about Democracy is the same guy who just accepted a person as his (and the party's leader) bcz of his surname fully knowing that there are at least 20 people with better credentials to head the party..the party has never seen a non-gandhi leader except for MMS era and that too was by force, not by choice the girl who is talking about how difficult it has become now to motivate ppl to join a movement bcz ppl's priorities have changed, that bcz now you can make someone not worry abt a danger to the nation if he is given internet for 5 rs is the same girl who abates killing of people just bcz they are from an opposition party and pose a threat to your rule, the party that is playing the dirty politics of "numbers" to consolidate their vote bank

James Henriques, India is one of the most inclusive societies.. If you delve into the Partition times, it was partitioned on the basis of religion, the ones who wanted a separate country got 2 countries.. Yet many of them stayed back in India. If not inclusive then what were we? We neither attempt to convert others nor are into proselytize. No other nation in the world has so much diversity as India..

When it's a conversation between two individuals, one from Kerala which is the most developed state of India with the highest point in Human Development Index, highest rating in Sustainable Development Growth, highest literacy rate, highest sex ratio etc. and the other one from Bengal where the people are born intellect, a place which is the cradle of revolution and Indian national movement, then that conversation is definitely going to be a quality one🙏🙏🙏

Bengal is also the cradle of Muslim League, Khilafati movement, an Islamic state and Direct Action Day. Bengal is capable of unleashing great tragedies by white washing real danger. The cradle had 70% Muslims, yet go to Andaman and see how many Muslims you can find in freedom movement. Yet there are parks named after Khilafatis in Kolkata. So say Bengali HINDUS were the cradle of revolution and renaissance and Nobel winning work. Give credit where it's due.

As a malayali, I have to say that literacy is overrated by many in the academic field. Theoretically, literacy may look like a positive indicator (which it is), but without proper employment opportunities and liberalisation of markets, all that investment on literacy and human capital goes to waste since most of the talented workforce moves to other states (Karnataka, Maharashtra) or to other countries (Saudi, UAE,Oman, Muscat) since they offer much better employment opportunities. The alternative CPIM-congress govts haven't done much to boost the manufacturing sector which offers employment to a higher percentage of the labour force.

They were criticising the govt. as if the divisions in the society only happened due to BJP otherwise it was a peaceful society although there were riots before 2014 when UPA was in power. The crackdown of Opposition was first started in the early years of Independence by Nehru itself. Refer to book by Vikram Sampath on Veer Savarkar and his references.

While Dr. Tharoor's approach is definitely broader and Moitra's bends towards ground level centric, i'd still appreciate the fact that two individuals with different opinions are able to sit down and talk and not drag themselves to a low level of shouting and interrupting like Patra or Tejasvi or Goswami and his fans.

This is how well educated and informed people discuss national issues. Kudos to both! This is in sharp contrast to uneducated, narrow minded, caste and religion division seeking Chaiwalls and Chowkidars who have no clue about building and developing this nation. All the latter want to do is encourage and incite equally uninformed people to ruin this nation. These are the same people who did not participate in the freedom struggle and refused to fly the indian national flag till recently when their ideologues won the election.

Shashi Tharoor and Mahua Mohitra discussions are very wisely perceived. Intellectually delivered. People at large do not have disposable income. Similarly, people have so much religiously proselytized that nationalism has become intangible. My granddaughter 7 years old asked me, that wrong she did to be named Anti-national or immigrate to Pakistan.

Secondly and quite frankly I don't understand this childishly romantic idea that two individuals have to become a couple if they are both very competent in their field of work. We have plenty of examples in history which shows two competent individuals coming together hasn't done anything special Heard of professional friendship ? Let's just say they are two of our very well spoken and vocal parliamentarians and let them work together if possible for the good of people.
