In today’s episode of Figuring Out, we have Dr. S. Jaishankar in conversation with Raj Shamani. He is an Indian diplomat and politician serving as the Minister of External Affairs of the Government of India. He is admired for his answers and statements in various interviews when it comes to answering anything about India and its foreign affairs.
In this episode, we discussed about the Ukraine and Russia war, how China was trying to create pressure on the boundary, and what would be India’s foreign policies to deal with this. We also talked about how Pakistan and China killed our soldiers in different wars and how are we tackling these situations in different ways and why. We then talked about how China has become a global supply chain and how can we become a top 3 or 4 option globally. He also shared about how India has changed and how once we had to give bribes for passports and how that was removed and how our governance has become more efficient. He talked about the neighbor-first policy and how are we executing it.
Towards the end, we talked about the top 2 countries that he thinks are opportunities for us, who have great purchasing power and market potential. He also described India in 4 beautiful lines which sums up how we are changing. He shared how globally people are perceiving India differently and how he thinks only P.M Modi could have chosen him as an external minister. My experience of this episode is that many questions are very straight forward some question should be asked by not taking names of counties And don't ask opinion on possible scenerio instead ask question on present becz we are watching him as well as other countries mea so they should not get the felling from which we don't fell good they will keep in their note and ask the very question on international forums which we don't feel comfortable answering ... I am not going deep but that must be in this case We should ask politician on thier plan in deep *BTS holds a very big picture in foreign affairs which we don't see I mean Actual Diplomacy is BTS

CHINA: Still waiting for Laal Aankh NEPAL: India having border related tensions with its closest friend MALDIVES: Kicked out all Indian troops from its land CANADA: Inability to handle Canada resulting in visa suspension by both countries for each other RUSSIA : Russia forcing Indian people to fight for wagnar group in the war ISRAEL: Indians (mostly from UP and Bihar) compelled to work as labourers in the war hit region AFGANISTAN: Closed its embassy in India MYANMAR: Supporting the coup govt by giving huge loans to them SRI LANKA: Letting China build many military ports right under our nose TIBET ( China) : China building "super dam" on Brahmaputra river which can easily flood regions of north east India. These are just to name a few. Whenever someone talks of India's failed relations with a country he just plays either the atmanirbhar card or starts putting the blame on previous governments. He is destroying the relations which previous governments built.

I saw your podcast the first time, and it was the third in the row first being Lallantop interview, second was the aap ki adalat, classic mistake on my part sequencing them with the views or general popularity. My feedback, yours were the most relevant and matured questions. Raj I must congratulate you on your calm and maturity at such a young age, and more importantly the incisiveness of your questions and 360 down to earth relevant questions. While I like Lallantop a lot but I see you are bringing contemporary journalism in your podcast that not only create an audience within your generations but past several generations. My comments on this episode are as follows: 1. The questions were easy, you didn't push him on any issue 2. You came through as a fan-interviewer instead of an analyst-interviewer 3. You dressed really well 4. The background of Dr. Jaishankar with your books didn't look good. Too salesy. 5. Comparsion of old foreign policy (non-aligned) vs today's FP (self-aligned) could have been discussed 6. Podcast could be longer especially with interesting and important guests well done overall, I am a new subscriber and I will try to get 10-20 in my network to do the same. As an Indian it's one of the best podcast on the internet. What I personally feel is you should ask more difficult questions to S Jaishankar like :- 1. what's the strategy of our government on sustainable development doing minimal harm to the whole ecology of an area. Ex- Border areas of Ladakh, North East, forest areas where tribal population use to live. 2. How are we going to tackle the day by day increasing shortage of fresh water in metro cities like Bangalore, because it will be a serious concern in near future for all metro cities. 3. How can we deal with migration of people from tier 2,3,4 cities to the metro cities for employment opportunities. 4. How can we sustainably deal with the decomposition of waste produced every year which is also a big issue. 5. What is the plan to deal with waste water management which is currently directly dumped into fresh water bodies and thus polluting them. If India focus more on manufacturing this will be done on more drastic level. 6. Hindus in Bharat are treated as third class citizen, when do we tackle with this. 7. How are we going to minimize heavy use of pesticides and chemicals in farming due to increased food shortage. 8. When will government give relaxation to the middle class taxpayers community which is the most exploited community by each and every government.

first stumbled upon you on Nikhil Kamat's podcast and I was hooked! It led me to dive into more of your work, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Then, I came across Dr. Jaishankar's interview with Ranveer and something felt a bit off-it seemed too promotional for my taste, felt like it was maid to promote BJP and Modi Ji. I couldn't help but think, if you were the one conducting that interview, it would have been a whole different ball game and way more entertaining. Dr. Jaishankar is known for his diplomatic answers, and I believe you would have brought out the best in him. Today, I watched this podcast and I was completely mesmerised by your questioning style. Even when some responses were promotional, you managed to keep it engaging. The way you dive deep into each question and share your thought process is what sets you apart. It's like you have this knack for connecting with people on a deeper level. You're absolutely nailing it-keep up the fantastic work!

Amazing episode. I watched Saurabh Dvivedi's podcast and I clearly saw a distinct style of questions from both teams. While his is more professional and controversial as would be expected of an experienced player, you guys have a youthful passion and curiosity that other channels just cannot match. It made me realise, after watching both interviews, that you offered an extremely valuable youth perspective that is quite frankly more relatable to me. Excellent job. Yes, the questions could be tougher but I feel like these questions were also necessary. I don't have much knowledge of politics, both domestic and international, so this level of questioning was easy for me to follow and make sense of. I also must thank you for providing tidbits of information explaining complex terms. I would get lost without it. Good job everyone.
