People never traveled in train's rooftop in India except during the partition. All the rooftop traveling stereotypes that western media often depicts are Bangladeshi trains. At present it's not even possible to travel on top of the roof on most railway routes because of the overhead high voltage wires.

Never mind bro, Germans won't understand "overhead high voltage wire"..most of their train network is not even electrified!
@manpreet9766
@manpreet9766 Жыл бұрын
I think Indians should stop getting offended at criticism. The people on train is a figurative thing. Not on the top of trains but you can regularly see people on bus tops. Even on rail tops was common in many states especially until 90s before electrification. Getting offended is often counterproductive and if the government gets involved (which Indian governments often do), that gives governments a chance to waste the precious time which could be spent elsewhere. One of the reasons countries remain undeveloped is this. People allow their governments to waste time on petty things.

@@manpreet9766 i definitely won't like govt to get involved in such petty things. But, since this is the internet and PPL have the right to express their opinions and put forward facts. That's the best thing to do. If you spend enuf time in the internet you would know this rooftop depiction is not a new thing, it's an age old trope often shared in an condescending manner every now and then, just like that India having no toilets, PPL are street shutter etc etc. At least that had some truth to it, but this doesn't, PPL really don't travel on train roofs(they do in bus though).

@@manpreet9766 that cartoon isn't criticism though, is it? It's an outdated stereotype. And given their history, the Germans should be the last people to stereotype anyone. Would Germans like it if an Indian newspaper depicted them as a jackboot wearing, fascist saluting, extermination camp building populace, because that representation of Germany and this representation of Indians travelling on top of trains is from about the same time of history ...

Democracy is 🇮🇳India's challenge. For example in India if you want to build a bridge over a river you need the local people's support, local government support, environment organisations support, Natives support, Legal support, Neighbouring State's support etc. In 🇨🇳China, it's just build the damn bridge and move on to the next, no questions asked, nothing. By the time India completes one bridge, China will have completed 12. Edit: I don't want India to go undemocratic, but it would have benefited India and Indians if the government of India were like the Chinese. The Chinese people can overthrow the current government for a democratic one; they will have the infrastructure and development already in place. All I can say is India lost its chance.

Video Title: About Rail, roads and Airports. Thumbnail : Some Local Markets. Before the advent of Internet, we could understand the foreign media having access to limited images and clips, but it no longer holds true anymore. We also understand, showing the modern India means, it won't look so different from any other developed countrie much and hence the depiction of exotic things such as too much people, dusty lanes and chaotic traffic etc. But, yet, being a respectable media organization, this is seemingly becoming what every Indian or for that matter, countries outside of western sphere had always suspected. You guys really show the rest of the world in bad light, objectively worse than what the reality really is. The reason can be nuanced and complex, let's not delve into it.

By 2028, there will be 10,000 km of expressways in India similar to the autobahn in Germany. Semi-high-speed trains, which can travel up to 160 km/hr, are being introduced soon at a rate of one a week. Although the tracks need to be upgraded to allow this speed. Over 200 new train stations are being developed, including ultra-modern ones in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Airports have doubled in the past 10 years, and Mumbai and Delhi will have brand new airports in two years.

China adopted a better model for the development of the country and grew fast. Democracy is a burden on poor and underdeveloped societies. @WVW It is a burden. Tolerating the politics of disillusionment and divide, the need for creating an us vs. them for votes. Knowing that we are subject to a division every day in life within our own country. The attempts to create a division by language, ethnicity, gender, religion, skin color, and region are hard to tolerate. It is a known thing that elections almost everywhere are being held with immoral money. Politicians are the dividers of attention, people, place, and sometimes hopes! India is running the biggest democracy in the world in a region surrounded by the likes of Pakistan, China, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka. We are trying to protect the likes of Bhutan, Nepal, the unique tribes of Northeast India, and the diversity of these countries. We even protected Bangladeshi people and their culture from a complete Wipeout by Pakistanis. With so much cultural diversity and knowing that we have to protect them all. It's a burden with the problems of the divisive nature of democracy.
