You're right but please note that inflation in NDA 2 has been constantly near the top end or even above the RBI comfort band of 2-6%. UPA 2 was rightly criticised for high inflation, and a lot of it had to do with $100+ oil. While that was a contributing factor, governments are expected to rise above it and find ways and as a result were rightly criticised. In NDA 2, amid far lower oil prices despite all sorts of geopolitical tensions, inflation management has been as disastrous as it was under UPA 2, if not worse. The other horrible part is supression of data. Check out the long delayed consumption data which was released months ago. It is nowhere as comprehensive as the last installment, depriving us observers of crucial data on how Indians are spending their money. And, whatever data is available showed that absolute consumption growth rate fell over ten years. I looked at numbers on constant prices for 99-00, 11-12 and 22-23. If you adjust them for inflation, it'd be even more stark. For a growing economy boasting of superficial growth rates, a declining rate of consumption is among the biggest indicators of growing inequality and in our case, potentially higher poverty and access to basics like nutrition. Point to be noted is that a business newspaper published a report after accessing a comprehensive consumption report end of last decade, and it was junked. The reason cited was it was not "done right"..but it revealed many an inconvenient truths about consumption actually falling (decline in absolute consumption, not even rate of growth). And you gotta wonder if the government is lying to us and playing around with data of all things. It will be a death knell for policymaking if our benchmarks are tampered with

The US government gave people a certain amount of stipend in pandemic to handle inflation and keep the economy going. Now also they are keeping a control over inflation by keeping federal rates high. Indian govt did not address the drying up of incomes. Expensive goods and food has hit people hard. The govt could have done much better. Other countries did. Don't forget we have spent on architectures that doesn't help solve economic issues or inequality.

@@sonamsi7003 US government has 30 trillion of accumulated debt. It can simply print dollars and distribute to people because USD is used a reserve currency. It printed 1 trillion dollars and gave out to its people during pandemic. India does not have that luxury. Despite limited resources, India govt gave out free ration to majority of people and free vaccinations to everyone (including Muslims). Congress ran a shit show during 2009-14. They cant even run their party properly. They bring the same incompetence while running a government. If you hate Modi, its your choice. But he is the best option we have to run the country right now.

@createyourdestiny1533 you're mistaken bro. The point of content like this is for it to reach people. The south opposes Hindi imposition, not Hindi itself. And i think the deprived sections of the society already know about the impact of inflation, because they feel it. Some of them choose to vote BJP for other reasons, including that the Congress has been apathetic to their cause too for ages and BJP at least is promising change. I'm not saying that's necessarily logical, but that does happen and they wanna give the BJP a chance..that said, it's the English speaking elite who think milk and water is flowing under the current government who need to open their eyes to this.
