India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the upcoming G7 summit. This has sparked talks of a new chapter in confronting China's assertive territorial claims. Italy, the G7 host, is seeking deeper ties with the Indo-Pacific region. India too seems to be rethinking its China strategy. This comes amid a recent escalation in the long-standing border dispute between New Delhi and Beijing. China has been renaming locations in India's Arunachal Pradesh state, prompting outrage from New Delhi. In response, India is reportedly planning a similar move. The Indian military has compiled a list of over two dozen locations in Tibet that they plan to rename using historical names in Indian languages. This is a significant shift in India's strategy. Previously, India responded to China's actions with statements of rejection. This new approach offers a "strong counter-narrative" to China's bogus claims. Palki Sharma tells you more.

All sundry items 100℅ ordered by us on line are Chinese. I find more MG cars on roads than Indian made. Why there many Indian companies with their brand name selling Water filters, Geysers and Vacuum Cleaners imported from China. These are of very poor quality and seldom last for an year. We must completely stop all imports from China and also manufacturing. Our foreign policy in regard to China is ridiculous. On the one hand we allow it make money in India and on the other cajoling it leave our borders.

First thing is not to accept the Chinese name for Tibet which is Xizang! In Sanskrit it is Tribhot. So our maps should show Tribhot. And then find a very anti-communist name for the road where the Chinese Embassy is located in New Delhi.

India should do more than rename Tibetan regions to extend their civilisationall history. They should declare the McMahon treaty as the basis of their border and go on the diplomatic offensive to enforce the treaty. After all Tibet was an independent nation when the treaty was signed, and China is just an invader. China's imperial rulers were smart to define China at the Great Wall. Besides, Genghiz Khan wasn't Chinese anyway.
