An enlightening speech against the organized ecological ignorance built in in our industrial lifestyle and education.

"They try to convince us they are the creators of water". I'm sure they've tried to RE-create it but, as we know, everything they touch.... turns to shit. Thank you, Dr. Shiva, for the WORLD of information you have given us, for undertaking such a worthy movement and, for taking on the life-destructive BioTech Industry. You are, by definition, a world leader.

So what, she is a brilliant woman, who is speaking the truth, without emotional liberation, I would follow her to heaven in the name the modernist profits behind the hell that awaits my children's future.

Context is important... Green Revolution was supposed to get us - particularly India, in general the whole world, some time to get ahead of the population curve. Its easy to give speech condemning the past and the technolgy when stomachs are full and you can sip water when giving the speech. Only if one had experienved empty stomach day after day or felt the anger seeing kids go hungry, can one understand what the Green Revolution did. By the way what's the point of mentioning incidences that have no connection to Green Revolution? Bhopal - yes pesticide company but was an industrial accident... doesn't happen in other industries? And no need to mention reason for violence in Punjab in the 80s... just read some news from back then, one of the bloodiest and sadest time for Bharat...

At the Same time we started hyper-injecting fossilized carbon into our atmosphere.... we began proliferating Iron Plow Tillage.... agriculturally DISRUPTING photo-synthetic carbon sequestration.... effectively Doubling the Damage....at LEAST. We MAY be able to turn THAT around faster than anything else we CAN do.... EXPONENTIALLY increasing Soil Carbon Retention by adopting all-around no-till organic agricultural methods.... MANY superific Societal 'Side'-effects here... MO' Bettah Food&Health/Mo' Bettah Money (at GROUND-level.... where LongGREEN Money makes Mo' Bettah Benefits Balanced Beatifically in a bubble-UP ECO-nomic Model) AND.... LESS+LESS money for the Manufacturers of Agri-Toxins.... where Mo' Money makes Mo'Profit$fo'Mo'Poi$on$ and little el$e.... be$ide$ Profit$ for Proliferation of Political Power in Production of AMBIENT Poverty for Purposes of Profit through Public PainPlusPenury in function of Social CONTROL.... and THERE'$.... your Trouble. NOW we know why it's so hard to even TALK about making beneficial changes much less understand root Need for So doing AND....Root Cau$e for NOT. Go ahead.... Wave your magic Wand.... even WITHOUT climate crisis.... these agri-poison$ cause Air/Water/Soil/Food AND Health Pollution.... so IF you should find yourselves mentally incapable of grasping a Wider Scope for these Impending Horrors... understand clearly NOW.... that carcinogenic and other-wise Toxic agri-chemical residues are CURRENTLY doing to your body&being what the manufacturers of those chemicals are doing to all Life IN and ON Earth. It is Time to Change.... not just HOW we generate and use our energy (Roof-topSolarW/BatteryBack-upNO...Nukes) but HOW we grow the very food we eat....and in So doing we MAY.... in ALL likelihoods.... RESOLVE our Climate AND Pollution PROBLEMS.... for REAL Time.

Those who appreciate this lady, They should have to know the ground realities, before green revolution, India faces major or minor drought every 3rd year. I have listened stories my grandfather that they have to shift to near government where government feed our animal and give us some employment like making pound etc. and i am taking about Gujarat, not about Rajasthan or other states. So statment that we have lost more than we have gained from green revolution is totally wrong statement. And use of pesticides make soil worst is true and we have to do something about it, but for that we have to go on ground and try organic farming rather than giving speech in AC Auditorium, rather than that she should work with farmers

India wouldn't have been able to feed half its population without the green revolution. Green revolution was good for the country even if there are some disadvantages.

Vandana does not seem to know much about what "green revolution" is and how it had saved 1 billion lives from death by starvation. She does not mention that India wheat production has increased from 11 million tons a year to 93 million tons as a direct result of green revolution. India was consuming more food than it was producing, today India exports wheat. When she talks about water consumption by agriculture, she fails to mention that yield per acre quadrupled and water used for agriculture is mainly green water - not water you find in your water-tap.

Vision as they say is 20/20 in hindsight. Food situation of the country was so dire at that time, that green revolution was the only possible quick solution. Otherwise millions would perish of hunger☹️

So you have no argument to counter my statement and are complaining that I know facts that are backed by research. Yes, you will find peer-reviewed research in journals and publications. If you claim that Vardana knows more than me - it makes her a liar as, in such case, she is deliberately deceiving her listeners. @@nexuscross3233
