It is true that India’s relations with some immediate neighbours hardly lived up to the standards it was preaching from global pulpits, but now it's all changing. All thanks to dedicated minister like Sir Jaishankar, he's the true gem in Indian politics.

@@varoonshekhar4023 he couldnt find his words.... at one time i was finishing his sentences. he even said borderless instead of borderline somewhere in at the end... just imagine!!diplomat at the highest level!!... and anyway talking about his content.. he faces these same questions every other day, he is well versed with how to hit back... there is nothing new coming at him from the interviewer...there was no value generated in the conversation... a very solid blow to a diplomat, since talking is their A game...no value for the the conclave... only diplomatic hits at the interviewer... i hope he and his team does better where it REALLY matters. peace

All nations became great on the basis of their industrial and engineering base, which make them a rich trading nation. Currently US has changed its strategy from containing China to competing with China on new technologies development. They range from nano, alternative energy, quantum computing,etc. China is developing the R&D by developing local & hiring outside talent. Here stands the greatest opportunity for US-India collaboration by Inviting US universities and research centers to open GoI subsidized high-tech R&D in Indian Universities and research outlets. Like how the high-tech Apple or Google work, they do software engine research in India and use of it on their patented products. These research centers are expensive to operate and run in the US, why not do it in India. This will provide the US with the same advantage China has low-cost talent and a readily available scalable production facility. As a first step, India must set up a semiconductor foundry as a base for all technological innovations of the future with the help of US. That will be the real test of Quad and new bonhomie.

Yes our strong selling points are: Our service sector. Our spiritual superpower status To capitalize on these we need more free trade agreements in services and not in goods with the rest of the world. And also we need visa and immigration regimes that allow more Indians to both travel and settle abroad. I think the government is already working on these issues. And we need to export our soft power more using the media such as movie industry etc and promote religious and spiritual travel. India and Hinduism Buddhism Jainism Sikhism etc have a lot of Goodwill in the world we need to encourage international people to come here for religious pilgrimage.

If everyone wants strategic autonomy, how will developing countries get FDI. Countries will get companies to produce locally for the local market. That means western companies will invest in their local economy to create local jobs. Don't follow how india would gain from this. Also foreign companies will only provide outdated technology.
