In this episode, Divyanshi tells about the India-Australia Dispute in Making.
Australian Media Organisation ABC News has reported that the Modi government operated a 'nest of spies' in Australia before being disrupted. Indian spies were kicked out of Australia after being caught trying to steal secrets about sensitive defence projects and airport security, as well as classified information on Australia's trade relationships. The so-called foreign "nest of spies" disrupted by the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) in 2020 was also accused of closely monitoring Indians living here and developing close relationships with current and former politicians. Australia’s PM and other cabinet ministers declined to comment. But, the Opposition has raised concerns without naming India.
The accusations related to Indian Spies in Australia were first raised by the Washington Post. In the same report, WaPo disclosed the name of CC-1, who was allegedly involved in the murder plot to kill Khalistani terrorist Pannun. MEA called that report unsubstantial and unwarranted. However, they haven’t said anything specific on the ABC news report. The question might be raised in the weekly press briefing of MEA today.
