Someone must tell planners, 'Never put your all eggs in one basket'. Instead of one huge base, India has to make six bases, two east, two west and two south, so in war time enemy could not target single base with full force. Quantity has its own quality in military sense..

EDIT : Thanks for the likes guys - well I've a radical idea you are free to criticize it or suggest some points that can be amended : How about we divide the defence budget into The Army, The Air force, The Navy Budget & the remedial budget ( dealing with pensions ) - if we divide them we've to increase the funding significantly because the current % they get in our defence budget is lower than the international standards & to match it the government will have to increase it significantly & its not like we do not have money, our economy is growing and if we can stop some of those Revdi scheme's we can definitely put that money to good use !! And if we do this people will also be able to easily understand the developments in our defence sector. Again just a random thought feel free to put forward your point.

Maybe the submarine quantity is less but for regional security we need 3-4, and many conventional subs like 30 SSK's, yeah we need more in future but we have to focus on our air power the most right now, with intelligent swarm systems, HAPs, drones, hypersonic missiles and use of AI in imaging and targeting factors, as this can also be integrated with the navy at a very short notice.
