The term 'Himalaya' is a conjunction of two Sanskrit words hima + aalaya - hence the Indian emphasis on the 2nd syllable (where the parts join) rather than the 3rd syllable. Also, the traditional Indian usage implies that Himalaya is *the* abode of snow in India, and thus used in singular (unlike the Western usage in plural for mountain ranges like the Alps, etc.)

Those of us who's countries were colonised by the British, like India, Ghana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and I from Zambia when we travel to the US, we get surprised how Americans pronounce certain words. Like: The American lady said "hostol" . For some reason in America, words that end with 'ile' are pronounced 'ol'. We say 'hostail' See how they pronounce T Mobil as T mobol. We say T Mobail. Then they pronounce Skull as 'skol'. This blew me away because we say 'skal'

Indians always try to pronounce fully while others just speak quickly. 😊 [Edit: It is just a sarcastic sentence with no intention to harm anyone's personal perspectives.] Speaking _'hostile'_ and _'roof'_ in Indian accent is so correct.😂

I guess you're Indian. Correct pronunciation depends on the pronunciation of the natives, remember? If an Englishman pronounced words in your native languages differently and said it's more correct, would you accept that? Indian English and American English is better apart.
