Күн бұрынThe Indian Air Force's presence at Waddington during the 2007 Airshow gave spectators a real treat. With 6 Su-30MKI aircraft based at Waddington for exercise Indra Danush, it was a great opportunity for the IAF to display these highly capable aircraft to the British public.

Although couple decades old, the SU 30 just looks like a fighter from the future. Just love the Aerodynamic Design. Its huge, but extremely maneuverable.

SU-30 MKI is not that old. It had its first flight in 1999 which is not that much old.. while comparing to other aircraft. Here I am talking about MKI version of SU-30 which was specifically made for indian air force by the Russians. It was inducted in IAF in 2002.

During this exercise Indian su30mki scored 12-0 agains eurofighter typhoon. Thats one of the reasons why indian airforce rejected it and went for rafale.

Tactics would be the same Indian pilots flew over Normandy 40 odd officers flew in the battle of Britain. during WW2 20000 Indian pilots flew for British India and for the Indian airforce. out of all the countries in the world India and Britain have a lot in common.

Fighter aircraft combat tactics have changed considerably since the 1940s... I think this is more to do with similar planes with similar capabilities being flown in a similar way.

@@avinashsimon1988 There's probably a lot of cultural commonality between the air-forces which makes it easier for them to work together, but I think the Indian ability to adapt and their high standard of education, including in English, deserves a mention.

RAF only wanted to learn Russian jet maneuverability, they do not give a F about IAF. Indian were showing their best and RAF were taking notes.

@@Dangermonkey1000 how, IAF getting data with dogfight??? Dogfight is only depend on pilot skills, each side Radar & RWR were off. Result of dogfight could be on any side.

I remember when Europe was sold the f16 in the 1970s. RAF wanted to wait until mid 1980s and buy 200 F15s. intead govt have them the tornado ADV. essentially a strike aircraft. I believe the Eurofighter was supposed to come in 1995 was 6 years late. and still not as good as an F15. The RAF hasn't had a world class interceptor since 1968 with the BAC Lightning which also were forced to plug gaps through the 70s 80s and 90s. along with F4 phantoms which I believe we're spare royal navy variants from the last RN fixed wing aircraft carrier Ark Royal decommissioned in 1978. so ..12 nil doesn't suprise me. I notice no RAF spoksman has contested that. just made excususes. I.e. it was the wrong type of excersise for our Typhoons. or its collaboration. .. It's bloody shambolic that UK taxpayer pays so much and gets crap in return.

surojit chatterjee yes it's amazing that India bought Rafael. But then it can take off from a carrier also. You would have thought with the language and communication history with UK and India the Euro fighter would have been a better deal. So that leaves either India thought Euro fighter was inferior to Rafael or it cost too much and had reliability and support issues.

well nothing to be worry about mate.. my friends told me eurofighter was the first choice of AF but pricing othee technicalities didnt work out.. + we wanted some nuclear modifications.. our sukhoi though looking way ahead of any fighter doesnt have same electronics as you have so no worries.. you are getting F35 too.. & that front we have crashed our PAKFA T50 deal..

Typhoon is definitely a aircraft you want in your Arsenal. The problem is that instead it is built by individual nation, it built by a consortium of countries i. e UK, Germany, Spain, Italy. It can turned into a nightmare in times of war..... in those times you need spare parts urgently and any of these above mentioned countries can refuse to provide the spare parts, which can forced the aircrafts to group them. That is why IAF selected Rafael over Typhoon
