Our goal is to deter conflict, but if conflict cannot be avoided, to end it as quickly as possible, and minimizing the loss of life and property of friend and foe alike. All life is precious and deserves to be defended.

As a combat US army veteran, I enjoy watching true reactions. I kept watching your facial expressions and found it interesting when you learned most of our arsenal, mind it is only five high points of our military. these are 2017 stats... we starting to spit out Ford class carrier's to replace the Nimitz class... the Burkes have seen alot of updates along with just about every navy ship and sub.... ford class carriers are amazing !!! As a navy vet and history buff I cant wait for CVN-80 to get wet, the navy just doesn't seem like the navy without the Enterprise....

In 2017 the UK had 2 Nimitz-class Supercarriers it said. They were the closest in power ; however that is relative, as the U.S. had 11.

S. military presence in France, although there are several American cemeteries in France where heroes of WW I & WW II who helped to liberate France from German occupation are buried. In 1967, France thanks to the U. S. for saving their lives and country in both wars by closing all NATO bases in the country.

The two new carriers the UK built are good ships. One of our new carriers was just at Portsmouth not too long ago. Our carriers visit there often.

I like to imagine most US allies are like competent soldiers on the battlefield. In simple operation, everything is fine. However, if one of the enemies rolls up with a big weapon, it's like imagining the USA coming up immediately in a loaded tank and going "You sure you wanna fire that thing?"

These numbers may be a shock to you all. We Americans spend a pile of money on defense.And we are O K with that. Check out the aircraft battle group numbers..... The Cruisers task is to shield the carrier, by taking a missile hit if need be. An aircraft carrier has a crew of 5,000 to 6,000 sailors. They are small floating cities. And are great at power projection!! Plus we take care of out friends.... Our military is well=paid professionals these days, very well equiped and trained. My youngest son is a marine. Pooh-bear do not get stuck in the honey jar! You rwo take care......

It's sad that the US has been at 'war' to some degree ever since it was founded with less than 20 total years of peace (not all at once but split out). The general doctrine and policy are to keep the fights out of the home region and far away. The US is willing to get into skirmishes or aid potential allies against adversaries that threaten the security of the US and at the moment that means most terrorist groups, and unofficially Russia and China to some context. While US personal will not necessarily engage directly with the two nations, without a doubt the US sends those nation's adversaries aid to some degree, whether public or not.
