Can our best friend provide jet engine tech atleast even 80%? Inspite of ordering more than 1000 jets we never got any engine tech. The same Russia provided critical tech to our arch enemy China. In case of war, Russia will not come and support China. At best they will stay away. Reality is there is no friends in geopolitics. We need to be close with US and Russia and many other countries to our benefit.

Again US has proved that it can't be trusted and hope Israel has learnt it's lesson but putting too much eggs in US basket. Similarly I never agreed with the idea of GE engines for Tejas. We could ve tried M88 engines instead as France is a reliable n trustworthy partner.

Are you serious? M88 does not have required thrust for single engine Tejas. Second Saffron is not offering any transfer of tech. That is the reason GE was selected.

I've written this comment in the past but I need to write it again. US will NEVER EVER be a reliable defense partner for India. When it didn't even spare Israel, how can we expect it to be fair with India? Our defense deals with US which are in the pipeline need to be re-evaluated.

For jet engine we really need to work with Safran to have an alternative supplier and producer. And to hell with the F35s, just buy some of the Su57s and then invest heavily in AMCA.

That's what happens after 6 decades of Russia import lobby importing 272 Su30MKI + 120 MiG29/K + 1,000 AL31 engines + 250 RD33 engines + thousands of R73/77 missiles + 800 SA3/6/8/13 Air Defence systems + 5,000 T55/72/90 Tanks - making MoD almost totally dependent on Russia imports now disrupted by war so jeopardizing almost the entire IAF + Navy + Army forces....
