Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring T32.
Testing the Bridgestone T32 on the Indian FTR 1200.
Tyers sizes
160x60, 18 on the rear.
120x70, 19 on the front.
Keep in mind the rear is a lower profile so the engine RPMs are higher than normal at 100ks / 60mph.
It gives better acceleration off the line. But runs out of top speed.
Going 1 tooth larger on the front sprocket or a couple off teeth less on the rear sproket would mitigate the problem.
Had some fun pushing the new T32 to their limits in the dry. Big improvement on the Asphalt handling, better tip into corners and a more confidence inspiring corning ability.
Great Tyre for some added grip on the black top.
Running pressures 38psi Rear, 36psi Front

Got these T32s on my XSR900. Had Bridgestones on the bike since new (S21,BT023,T31 and now T32). Gotta say these T32s are the weirdest feeling tyres I've ever used. I think mainly because of the WIDE rain grooves. In the wet they are fantastic and braking is fantastic. In the dry it feels like you're dragging a weight behind you. My mechanic said the tyres would improve with a bit of wear. IMO my old T31s were a better tyre as were the BT023s. Really strange......
@mad2xraven
@mad2xraven 2 жыл бұрын
The profile of the tire looks quite flat to me. So maybe what you’re experiencing is the geometry. Since its flatter it may ride lower in the rear hence rear weight bias, harder to turn. Maybe try raising the rear ride height or dropping the forks a few mm lower.
@robertandmariajames8190
@robertandmariajames8190 2 жыл бұрын
@@mad2xraven Yeah, that kinda makes sense. The geometry of the XSR is so that you are sitting directly above the rear tyre ( maybe why the new incoming XSR900 has a longer swingarm than my '19 model) Or maybe with a different seating position via clip ons, putting more weight on the front end. Always thought that Dunlops, Bridgestones and Michelins had a more angular profile and Metzelers and Pirellis had a flatter one. But B'stone are claiming that this new tyre has 13% more contact grip than the previous T31s. Thanks for the info

@@joshlasceski Eventually, after something like 1500 kms. Front is really worn down but the rear still has plenty of tread still left in it. They are still bizarre tyres and sometimes give me a bit of a fright, BUT, they are absolutely brilliant in the wet. Might go back to the trusted BT-023s next tyre change

Rough surfaces, patches, and big bumps are the rule out here, so compliant tires work better - how do you rate these T32s for taking the edge off shite roadwork?
@mostlymotorcycles.
@mostlymotorcycles. 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting question. I hadn't really thought about the T32 in that regard. Dunlops DT3 was quite a soft compliment tyre. I say the T32 are stiffer in the side wall and transmit more feed back to the rider. You could say they feel less compliment. You can always lower pressures a little on rougher roads. The trad off being increased wear.

It depends on the weight of the bike and rider, skill level, how you ride, ambient air temp, the list goes on. I'd start with BMW'S recommended tyre pressures and work from there. Personally I'm running 40 rear 38 front (PSI)

The Surface of your roads are really rough .. I could see your tread pikcing up small stones and throwing them out.. You will never have very good tire tyre life on such coruse roads.. but you may well have better traction on them , I was down in Lousinna USA one winter.. they use Snail shells in the asphault those roads get really slick when it rains.. very deceptive until you get used to it.. but not as slippery as driving on snow or ice though ..

Hi im looking at replacing original dunlops on ftr1200 with michelin pilot road 4 trail on front and pilot road 3 on rear 160/60 18 rear.. Or road attack 3's or one of the avons cobra or st etc Did you consider these options? The. Bridgestone T32 make 160/70 18. And a 170/65 18 i believe ( sorry total rubbish 2nd look= 17" options) but Recommended rim width is 4.5 -5.5" whereas i think our rim is 4.25" Do you find the last few mm of tyre is impossible explore due to the tyre squeeze?( it looked good in your video and a peg scrape, you mentioned no new tread left so i guess its not bad) . I made the mistake on 180 /60 17 ax41s (great tyre) but profile is pinched on the bmw rim leaving about 8mm at almost a vertical profile , unobtainable for me even on a track day. Cheers rich

Interesting comment on the 180 wide. I did the same on an old Suzuki Bandit. Went from 160 to 180 and same thing tyre to wide for the rim. Side wall was pulled in and tyre to rounded to use all the tred.
