Thank you for posting this enjoyable interlude; it was fortunate that you captured what turned out to be an interesting little talk. Prof Marinoff's enthusiasm comes across clearly in this seemingly impromptu and lucid exposition.

Indeed we have all the time in the universe Lou.. and get this! It's not the first (or the last) time you said this standing on the same exact spot, addressing the same exact crowd in the space time continuum. ;)

It is easy to philosophize over drinks. Lets hope people are able to think all this when they are sober and behave kindly with one another. :D

Is that Imtiaz Ali (Bollywood director of films like Jab We Met) lingering in the background?

If we are so spritual best, then why we are under the foreign occupation for 800 years?........i think this is self explanatory by the video itself.....when everyone is trying to understand the subtlity of philosophy, our indian brothers here are trying to catch the funny but cheap remarks by the speaker and laugh it out loud.......Ans..we are edgy people, we do not see through the center of the dice...so we lost the indus valley because we don't use weapons...so we lost sindh and panjab to alexander beause we don't trust our neighbours...so we lost the delhi to mughals because we had invited them...we lost the india to english because our bankers from surat and calcutta had invested in them...and now we loosing it again to the politicians reasons better known to every one...and let me conclude with our another problem ina single sentence..they are better because they cherish their histories while we are remarkable in forgetting it.

I find your lack of knowledge entertaining. First of all which "we" you are talking about. If it refers to Indians then there was no India at that time.
@AyushKumar-pd2uk10 жыл бұрын
Abhishek Raj I always find my lack of knowledge very entertaining myself too, and thanks for indicating that. For the matter being the "WE" represent the people of Indian subcontinent, merely a geographical boundry but I am sure all present Indians have bloods in their vein of those people who never calls themselves Indians...and please read again the last line in previous comment, vaise main bhi kabhi kabhi arguments me aapki line use karta hun, par unke saath jo jante nahi hain. Asuvidha ke liye khed hai.

Ayush Kumar Sorry for my rude previous comment:) Although what I think is this region has seen intermingling of different faith system and culture, often from foreign lands, since time immemorial and this has led to our composite culture of today. Also no such thing as national consciousness back then.

@+Ayush Kumar We had de-centralized hindu civilization. There was no central government or army like we have now. Indian regional kings followed something called "dharmic warfare" , meaning no fighting after 6 pm, no fighting in civilian areas, nobody should be stabbed from behind, after defeating the enemy - he should be forgiven and given back the land. Our civilization was also called as "Dharmic civilization" . Outside "adharmic" forces (islam, christianity, judaism, east india company, European colonialists) took advantage of dharmic civilization. But dharma will win in the end.

kashsoldier but who determines what is dharma??does the ruler and pundits decide it?? or is it the voice of conscience but it may lead to chaos and anarchy
