We dont let the meat of qurbani go to waste..We distribute it and also eat it ourselves..so its not like we are just killing the animals for the sake of killing them the meat feeds many people, the skin is used in industries.. And we try our best to make the process of killing rapid so animal doesnt have to suffer for long. The people who slaughter are skilled. We dont torture the animal.. We feed it well take care of it.. Mostly people keep these animals as pets in their houses..getting separated is also a painful process for them.

3. Allah loved this Sunnah.. deed of Prophet Ibrahim so much that he ordered all the muslims to keep this memory alive by performing Qurbani of a Halal animal once every year.. It is stated in the Quran 4. It is not only a matter of sacrificing animals in the name of Allah.. It has a deeper concept.. By doing Qurbani we divide the meat in three equal portions.. for the poor, for relative, for our selves.. People who cant afford meat all year long get to eat meat on Eid, poor get fed, we go to relatives houses and greet them even those relatives with whome we fought or dont meet regularly.. This way fights gets resolved and we come together as a family.. It is a way to lower poverty, feed the poor and support the family system 5. Sacrificing the animal is also symbolic.. For sacrificing our beloved material things,our ego, our pride in the name of Allah. It teaches us to become selfless look beyond our selfish needs and wants. It teaches us that the creator doesnt require our sacrife literally but would want us to love him the same way he loves us.. Because he loves us more than anything and everything in the world.

It is not their flesh or blood that reaches Allah; rather, it is your piety that reaches Him. Thus has He disposed them for your benefit so that you may magnify Allah for His guiding you. And give good news to the virtuous. Al Quran [22: 37].

Just to clarify to you guys, it's not a very literal translation, the essence of this act is to raise an animal, care for it, feed it and then remember that everything has to return to ALLAH. Qurbani in it's literal meaning is sacrifice, ALLAH is not cruel, HE does not require a blood sacrifice to be pleased (Naowzubillah). It is just about remembering that you will have to let go of every worldly thing and there is nothing you can do about it. It is to restore your love and connection with ALLAH and most importantly, it is to give back to the community. There is no discrimination in this whatsoever, aisa nahi hai ke sirf musalman ghareebon ko dia jaata hai, it is for the under privileged in general. Animals are slaughtered everyday in the millions around the world for food. The creator although, has highlighted the best and most painless way to do it, so that the animal does not suffer. Modern science even proves it that the way muslims do it is the most painless way of going. I hope this helps clear it out a little more.
