Greetings from Mauritius. Amazing how the people of Indian origins hung on to their culture and traditions wherever they went. We are now at the 4th and 5th generation of Indian origins here, still celebrate weddings like in your video, same food, same fake banana/traveller's palm leaf to eat the food out of and so many other similarities except we're more French speaking than English speaking but most of us still are able to speak or understand Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telegu, Bhojpuri. Amazing. Keep'em coming, I'm really loving those vids.

I am from Kolkata , West Bengal, India. I deeply appreciate as to how the Indian diaspora in Guyana, Fiji, Mauritius, Suriname ,Trinidad, Tobago etc. are still maintaining the traditions of their fore fathers who went over to those places chiefly from Bihar and Eastern Uttar pradesh to seek their fortune. I was posted in Bihar for over 11 years . Hence my love for the culture of that place and the similarities in your countries. Although my mother tongue is Bangla, I can speak Hindi and Bhojpuri which I picked up in Bihar. My good wishes to you.

Nice video, good to see the Indian traditions being continued in Guyana. But one suggestion is for the folks to get past "kya hua thera vaada" at wedding receptions, please 😅. Indian Bollywood music has advanced way beyond, got an Oscar! The music, esp for a raucous wedding reception is frozen in time.

This seems like Eastern UP Purvanchal Indian style of wedding...The ritual where " mama" or maternal uncle is called "imli ghotai". Here uncle offers mango leaves or beetle nut leaves to groom/ bride, they need hold between teeth and release.. this is done to ward any vices or evil eyes....Mama then gives shagun (mostly money and clothes) to her sister and gold ornament to the bride..
