Glad you found it. One thing I think is often repeated is the idea gut shot deer go 20-30 yards, then walk off, as stated. That happens. So does a deer running 200 yards solid, then bedding. Or 150 the walking 300, then bedding. I've tracked MANY gut shot deer, and the notion mentioned in the video is no more frequent then the ones I mentioned, in my experience. It's all about the deer and the circumstances. Making assumptions based on limited info (like lots of blood on an arrow) can and does result in an unrecovered animal.

I am not surprised the deer was so close. I have done this myself many times. Quit looking in the dark after searching for hours,,then come back next morning and the deer was 10 feet from where we stopped the night before. It happens all the time,,lol

I helped a neighbor track a monster 3 years ago. We lost the track many times. The final time we lost it was a bedding site. We crawled on our knees for 10 minutes looking for blood and signs of which way he went when he got up. The whole time he was 15 feet away...

$450 + $100 if they find it, plus $1 per mile both ways depending on distance 😂 there's a few others in Indiana that use the same drone for half the price and have more experience then these new licensed pilots. Plus this video almost looks staged

I live in Indiana, I have the regional conservation officer headquarters only two miles from my house, I stop and talk to them often, just two weeks ago they are saying it's illegal to use drones to recover deer in Indiana

Sound like the headquarters needs to read the rules’ copied and pasted from the Indiana regulation’s website ” Drones may be used in the attempt to locate deer that have already been lawfully killed.”

Not from Indiana but is possible you got "recovered" mixed up with "finding"? Semantics but one indicates locating live deer as opposed to recovering shot deer. Be hard to differentiate the two without more info from a criminal charge standpoint.

It is indeed illegal to use drones to locate harvested wildlife in indiana but I'm not gonna be the guy that'll stop them for it

The law says clearly that it's illegal to use thermal to recover a deer, but not clearly about using a drone.

@@rexmiller6818 If I'm not mistaken the law says infrared, not thermal. I would assume they do all the research before licensing someone in that state.
