The State of Indiana should be grateful for your good work in documenting all these natural wonders. These videos should be state sponsored. I do enjoy the videos. I am grateful for your efforts. I think this channel should do great.

Thank-you, Jimmy! The State of Indiana’s tourism agency tends to promote downtown Indy, wineries near Bloomington, and West Baden. The rest of the state is hardly ever mentioned in their materials. I think it’s because they see those areas as targets for economic development. They’ve done this for decades, and people hardly know that there’s an entire “other Indiana”. People that have lived in Indiana all their lives, routinely tell me, that my videos show them things for the first time. That makes me feel good, even if I do this on my own nickel.

I grew up in Floyd County, Indiana... when I was a teenager some friends and I would venture deep into the woods of Floyd Knobs... there was a water fall on a creek we would walk... it was maybe 6 feet in height... not much compared to these water falls, but when it was flowing it was a sight to behold...

Sunday,May 21. I've really enjoyed the amazing videos of southern Indiana. My family, (Hillenburg) are from Lawrence county. Although I grew up in Indianapolis, and now live far from my home state. It's almost like a homecoming to view your samplings and historically most enlightening. I remember a great aunt married into the Turpen family around Bedford many years ago. So it's possible that my feelings of a trip back home are thereby reinforced. In any case, it's a high point of the day when a new posting is released. I've even planned to bring one or more grown offspring and families "back home" on camping and hiking trips this summer. Thanks for what you do, and also for helping to stir memories of my own distant childhood.

Clifty Falls nearly killed me twice! My two cousins and I scaled the rock wall at Hoffman, and about 10 feet from the top, I started to lose my hold. One cousin grabbed the wooden fence post, and the other held onto him and offered me a leg to grab. It was completely stupid and nearly ended my life. The other time was at Tunnel Falls, and the same cousins and I thought we’d slide down the ravine, to get to the falls. This started a rock slide, and we were all bloodied up by the time we reached the bottom. Again, youthful stupidity. I’ve heard great things about Hanovers private property falls, but haven’t seen a single one. Yet. 🙂

Roger, great beautiful footage. There are two things that can defiantly clear my mind. Any body of water and a evening campfire. My 4th great grandfather Samuel V. Smock my have been the first settler to discover Clifty Falls in 1805 while on a hunting trip after crossing the Ohio river from Kentucky. He returned to tell the family about the falls and that he had found a fresh water spring where they would return to and settle in what is now Jefferson County Indiana.

Cataract Fa!lls is my favorite of Indiana's waterfalls..I hunt there every year since I started hunting..the entire area is simply gorgeous and I know the area around the upper falls like the back of my hand..there is a gravel road just east of the upper that will take you down to the bottom where you can take a trail and go underneath the falls themselves..I have some video that my stepson and I took on a trip there and he did some cool stuff with going into slow motion and capturing the water it was definitely cool and I also took some video of the falls after days of heavy rainfall and the video is impressive..the shear volume of water going over at such a speed is amazing to see in person and louder than you can imagine.. definitely a sight to see!

How convenient, I just got home from clifty falls this evening. Purchased my annual state park pass for the year. I remember as a kid being able to walk all the way down to big clifty and walk under the waterfall. Many people have died at the park over the years so i get why they closed it off on the trail.

A few years ago, one man, on his honeymoon, jumped a fence, for a dramatic selfie, and fell to his death. So incredibly tragic. I nearly died twice at Clifty, due to bad choices. One was rock climbing up from Hoffman, and the other was sliding down the Tunnel Falls gorge and getting into a rockslide. Many other times, I walked across the edge of the falls, with an over 60 foot drop below: one slip could’ve ended me. Now that I’m older, I try to caution everyone to not do the same.

Lots of wading at Thistletwaite, Anderson, and McCormicks Creek. Cataract is deep enough for swimming, but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Spring Mill State Park, that manages Cave River Valley, has given permission for groups to bring inner tubes, and float inside River Cave. It used to be a major tourist draw, even had lighting on the inside. You can actually see some of the old lighting fixtures.
