Curious about the potential of self-publishing on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)? I self-published two fantasy romance books over the last six months. With complete transparency, I'm revealing my earnings and sales figures from January 2023 to June 2023. I hope that you can gain some valuable insights into what it takes to be a self-published author knowing that not everyone makes $10k a month.

I think it’s amazing you can talk so freely and so openly about how much money you’re making. I think it’s just a beginning and in future, you will make much more, which is not to say I’m not in awe of the fact that you’re making this much at such an early stage in the first place. Good for you.

Thank you for sharing. I published my first book last month, and I'm about to break into triple digits on sales. I'm not exactly getting rich, but I am setting up a stream of income. I just made my book available on Kindle Unlimited, but I don't have any pages read yet. Thank you for your transparency on this. It's helping me to manage my expectations.

Thanks for being transparent! It's interesting to hear about other authors. I looked up your book because I was curious and realised you didn't an amazon author page or a goodreads author page. Those would be good things to have to establish yourself even further.

Right I love hearing about other authors! I do have both but they’re definitely not optimized yet. They’re on my never ending list of stuff I want to get done, but my main priority right now is finishing the third book in my series for its release later this year.

I'm a newbie Brazilian author, getting ready to publish and I'll translate myself into English, hence I was a freelance translator for Netflix and also some books, and it's like you: the whole job was made by me. Writing, formatting, choosing, picking etc... (I'm from Brazil, guys, I don't have how to pay for anything, I need to be very very creative! Thanks! It's definitely a motivator but shouldn't be our only benchmark for success. There are a lot of factors to take into account when you're writing and publishing. I wish you much luck and success in your publishing journey!

Excellent video filled with actual talk from an actual writer. Question, as a self published author, do you have a literary agent? Is it even necessary in your opinion? Thanks. - Christian

Thanks so much! I do not have an agent, I do all of the writing, editing, publishing, and marketing myself, and agents are really only necessary if you’re looking to get published by a traditional publisher. It depends what you want out of publishing whether an agent is necessary, but if you have the resources/ skills/ money, you can totally publish on your own.
