(I translated this to English) (C) Tuomas Holopainen: " I would have been willing to pick this up from the Dark Passion Play album as a single, if the singer hadn’t just changed( Tarja ----> Anette 2006). What a fantastic reaction. I couldn't stop smiling throughout this reaction and even watched it twice because it was such a joy to see the happiness on your face when Marco started to sing. And yes Troy is their third vocalist, but normally he only provides some harmonies to Floor and Marco in their older songs. However, on the new album Human :||: Nature he gets a bit more attention and even takes the lead in the song "Harvest" and you can hear him on "Shoemaker" too. The whole CD 1 of this 2 CD album is about Humanity while the second CD is about nature and has no vocals. If you decide to react to it, I would suggest that you do CD 1 of the new album in order, starting with the first song "Music", then "Noise", "Shoemaker", "Harvest", "Pan", How's the Heart", "Procession", "Tribal", and "Endlessness" (Marko has the lead vocals in this). It feels a bit like Tuomas wanted to say a hidden "Thank you Floor for saving Nightwish" with this album, because there are some references to Floor and if you pay attention you can find them. This is what I found: In the first song the lyrics speak of "joining the gathering" which could be interpreted as a hint to Floors early career, because she started to sing metal when she heard the band "The Gathering" with Anneke van Giersbergen. The second verse of "How's the Heart" is dedicated to Floor and her family (husband Hannes and daughter Freja). There is a great acoustic version of "How's the Heart" with Floor and Troy for Planet Rock, that you should check out. Also in the "Procession"-video a book is shown with a dutch title, check the title on google translate. My personal interpretations of the meanings of the songs are: - "Music" - music as a living entity tells the story how it met the human kind. - "Noise" - the noise we receive from social media that distracts us from the beauty of the real world and holds us trapped in addiction. - "Shoemaker" - this is quite obvious a tribute to a great scientist (Eugene Shoemaker, check his story on Wikipedia), Tuomas is kind of a science nerd. - "Harvest" - Death is coming for all of us and we should make the best with the time we have while living. - "Pan" - I don't have an interpretation on this one. - "How's the Heart" - show compassion to other people, even if you don't know them. - "Procession" - a plea to pay more attention to all the other living beings on this planet. The song tells about evolution of life from the perspective of a future species which comes long after humans got extinct. - "Tribal" - Humanity seperated into different tribes by religions, competing with each other. - "Endlessness" - don't have an interpretation on this one yet.

listen to Marko's solo stuff. "stones", "Star, Sand and Shadow" or "Death March for Freedom" if possible the live versions. I saw Marko live in February, super great Singer!!!

And both are beautiful, it's hard to decide. Maybe just... react to both if you like, haha ♥) You won't regret it!

Tuomas once heard Marko playing the song in a back room, saying the song doesn't fit his own band Tarot. So Tuomas thought it could be a Nightwish song. Tuomas wrote the lyrics to it.

If you want more Marko, (new) Marko has a solo album that just came out in 2019. Marko (older stuff) as lead vocals for a band called Tarot. It's fascinating to watch his vocal progression from the 80s until today.

Troy takes the lead on Harvest from the new album Human||Nature. There's a lyric video for it, and for every song from the album. Troy also does backing vocals for Floor on the acoustic versions of How's The Heart and Nemo.

Most commentors seem to forget "The Carpenter" at Buenos Aires 2018 (or the Decades tour) where Troy sings the lead. Originally, Tuomas sang the lead. It took 20 years and Troy to join the band for fans to hear the song live.

Marco (Marko) is fantastic! I heard Tuomas saying he didn't think they would do The Islander again without Marko. Only Marko, surely, could have Floor Jansen as his backing vocalist. So few reactors do that but the work involved in drumming for Nightwish is phenomenal and they've been great at it.

Go listen to Nightwish - Harvest (lyric video), which is is a song on which he's the lead. There's an acoustic version of another song from that album, How's the Heart, where Troy plays guitar and harmonizes with Floor (do the lyric video first, then the acoustic version). Also he sings the chorus in the song "Shoemaker" from the new album (epic song, but lookup Eugene Shoemaker online before you listen to that one as it's a homage to a real person). In the late 80s Marco was probably one of the best singers in the metal circus, so there is a reason why he is so good. He is like the grand old man in finnish metal, and have collaberated with a numerous of bands... Great musican too and is next to Troy the most diverse handling a numerous of different instruments. I think you'd really appreciate their biggest album single instrumental - Last of the Wilds. It's a really beautiful piece to get lost in, definition of magical. Even if you don't react to it, definitely give it a listen. Studio or the Live@ Wacken are both beautiful.

Yes, Marco is very good, and very versatile! The Islander is very nice, but a more impressive vocal performance from Marco can be heard in the Nightwish cover of the Pink Floyd song "High Hopes". It is an outstanding cover, and it's all Marco. It also shows off Emppu - the guitarist. He is very skilled too, but rarely gets to really shine. (Oh, and Troy is the guy who was playing the flute in this one - he mainly plays woodwinds, and I think he was a great addition to the band!)
