I am a big fan of the "country rules" that guarantees a broader variety of nationalities in the final. Unfortunately exactly this rule kicked me out of Semifinal 1 - I was the first to miss the final with my 85th time - but I could have puzzled faster, my "fault"... 🙂 Of course I was present at the Dome during the final, even not being qualified! In the meantime, I have solved the final puzzle (loved it!) and know my time and position that I could - potentially - have had in the final... Great video, I enjoyed re-living the experience through your eyes. Thanks for including a photo of me. 🥰

You are a fast puzzler! I saw your video - way faster than me! Thank you for staying and being supportive of others and I am sorry that you didn’t qualify - missed by one place! Ugh! But it shows what a true sport you are and nice person. Next year though, if we are all there, we need photos together!

The first I even knew speed puzzling was a thing was when the livestream came up in youtube suggestions. I was glued to every minute. What a great event, great commentators, great participants. Been building jigsaws quickly since childhood, and am about to have a go at my first timed 500 piece. The Czech ladies were incredible. You did really well being on the front row for that first round.

What a great video summarizing the experience of competing in the individual category of the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championships 2023. I've seen most of the competition and it was exciting to see you and others speed puzzling. I like how inclusive you are of others in this video summary and especially your positive and uplifting attitude. I must again say that I thought your commentary at the competition was the very best. I made sure to catch up with all the livestreams before watching your video. I recently moved, so I enjoyed having it on while I was figuring out where to put things. One thing I would encourage you to practice as well is fur. They mentioned it SO MANY times in the livestreams- when will there be fur, everyone is expecting it, will it be the next puzzle, surely one of the finals puzzles. And they even mentioned this to the Ravensburger representative 🤦‍♀️which means there will almost certainly be fur next year. On the other hand, I am enjoying seeing all the hauls and personal perspectives on the competition. I know the competitors far outweighed the number of camera crew, so I’m glad you were able to get some footage. Looking forward to your next one!

I will definitely practice a lot of fur puzzles for next year! The red dog in the Gauguin felt more like solid-colour as there wasn’t really fur lines or brushstrokes. My next video comes out tomorrow and then my Spain puzzle haul will be released later this week.

That was a great summary of the individual category, Donnalouise! 😊I really enjoyed your video. I need to find time to watch the live streams of the event. It seems there's so much going on behind the scenes and when you participate, you don't know about it... It was so nice being able to see you there in Spain and meet you, Victoria and Janette. I was in the 2nd classification round and so, I had that "easy" puzzle. I must say that it was good and bad. Good because obviously the image has so many different textures that you can build it fast. Bad, because people DID build it SO fast, basically every few seconds I'd hear somebody finishing and I was still in process of building my puzzle 🙈 So, that was an unexpected difficulty - listening to people finishing before I did. Either way, I also managed to get to the final. I absolutely loved it! I loved the experience. But, I also have what to work on if I want to go to Spain again. I do need to practice speed puzzling more often, definitely. And, I need to work on my own strategies of building a puzzle fast... I'm looking forward to seeing your next videos about the pairs and teams event. Marta (from @marta.puzzles)

MARTA!!! You are so lovely! Something I want to mention in the next video (if I remember) is that it is more nerve racking when it is an “easier” puzzle as more and more people finish it quickly, which makes it harder to qualify, and you hear all this clapping! There weren’t too many distractions like that with my puzzle. I do hope we can all be back again next year. So much fun!
