Talking about deforestation, just Look how Europe, US & Australia lost their forest more than any country
@togian755
@togian755 Жыл бұрын
The USA has not lost most of its forests i am sorry to inform you. It would be interesting to know where you got that bit of data from, because it's WRONG. In its original state less than sixty percent of the USA was forest to begin with. So if you read that the United States is less than half forested that does NOT mean most of its land has been deforested. Much of the land west of the mississippi was and is prairie and desert. The vast farms of the mid west are not the result of forest clearance. They were the result of clearing of temperate grasslands, but not deforestation. It is possible to hike from alabama to maine without leaving the forest. There are disturbances there, yes,massive deforestation, no. New England states are still at least two thirds forested. They are far from deforested. The eastern states of the USA are mostly forested. What permanent forest loss there is in america is for the most not due to industrial devlopment, say, agribusiness, timber production etc. It is due to population and agriculture as is true almost everywhere. If you wish to cite examples of massive deforestation you'd be better off picking a country where this really is actually the case.

Do you think European vegetable oil comes down frow the sky? palm trees can produce 8 tonnes per hectare per year while soybean, rapeseed, sunflower can produce only one ton per hectare per year.
@lucasreid5459

need to point that, 8 tonnes is the whole fruit. although it's even sad to think, not whole fruit become oil. even most of those palm oil farm would not reach 8 tonnes bcs the instability of fertilizer price and instability of palm oil fruit, this shown that indonesian government failed to achieve. a lot of people underpaid, a lot of farm land are not getting best treatment, yield of the farm varied around 2~6 tonnes per year per hectare. so if you pointed 8 tonnes you're def high.
@xi_cuan
@xi_cuan Жыл бұрын
@@lucasreid5459 no, 8 tonnes per hectare per year is estimated. Now, cpo from Indonesia is 2,5 tonnes per hectare per year. But now, the government provides incentives in the form of rejuvenating people's palm oil to replace less productive trees with superior seeds so that production increases. you just compare it, according to oilworld, in 2017 the production of canola, soybean, sunflower oil was far less productive than palm oil. Palm land in the world is only 6% and its production reaches 40% of the world's total vegetable oil. where Indonesia is the largest producer of CPO in the world, and Indonesia's CPO production will increase thanks to incentives for rejuvenating people's palm oil.

Palm oil industries are the major competitor of sunflower oil industries which mainly produced in Europe All the challenges that Indonesia faces are indeed have to be managed comprehensively with hard work and good deed between government and companies - 100% I agree with it 👍 But criticism will always come and go whether Indonesia has made improvement or not, and I don't think they're worried about these too much Indonesia will definitely do the best the country can do to face those challenges - economically, socially, and environmentally - everything is on progress, but the result (probably) won't please the international community in recent years

It depends on whether or not you see mass extinctions, blighted barren landscapes as an improvement. It didn't occur to Indonesians that this was not necessary and that greater prosperity could be created by other means. Other countries did not do this to their land despite your railing to the contrary. Malaysia and Indonesia today are seen as ugly hellholes that sold their heritage fur cheesy development.

People say our land is the land of heaven, Sticks and stones become plants" My country's weakness is that we are very friendly to foreigners. We welcome them as guests. But they invaded us instead. There is no comparison to be made between forest loss in Indonesia and Europe. Europe did not lose its forests to rapid industrial development as is the case of Indonesia. Europe has been densely populated for thousands of years. Forests were cleared for agriculture gradually over many centuries. Forests gave way gradually to settlements agriculture and shifting cultivators centuries ago. It was not industrial barons who destroyed them. It was centuries of dense populations with limited technology. In the case of Indonesia it was powerful govt officials who simply sold as much of the available forested land to industrial agriculture for rapid economic gain as they could. The burning of Sumatra and Borneo made tens of millions of people sick and obliterated entire populations of elephants, rhinos etc. Europe's natural beauty survived. Indonesia's did not. The lowlands of Sumatra and Borneo today are hideous wastelands. It is painful to look at the ugliness Indonesians have created. All for thirty pieces of silver.
