In the shallow seas of Indonesia, the tropical equator sun beats down on the worlds greatest area of coral reefs. Filled with extraordinary species, one of the most interesting is the corals themselves. The sheer variety of the corals has left scientists yearning to understand more about this unique marine wonderland.

I could watch this kind of stuff forever. This is a super good documentary on Equatorial coral reefs and the many, various species found on and in them. Definitely one the best I have seen in ages. Would love to see more documentaries on ocean life!

I didn’t know until recently that coral can hybridized to meet changing water conditions. Hopefully hybrid corals will help the reefs in Florida, Queensland Australia & other places where “bleaching” is happening.

@@The_Crucible714 I really hope that can happen too. I am afraid we are going to see more bleaching in places especially like Florida, where the environmental laws and regulations are very lax and getting laxer under the current republican regime that rules Florida, and much of the American South. Those republican politicians don't care about the environment and don't even 'believe in' Climate Change. They say so every, single day on the news. Climate Change is so very obvious in Florida and the American South, but they still cannot see it and continue to dump pollutants in their waters. On the other hand, you have Queensland, Australia, where the population and government is much wiser, better educated and more level headed. For sure, if hybridisation can happen with Corals, then Australia will be on top of it and will likely succeed. Florida, not so much.

I have some amazing pieces of elkhorn, staghorn & cauliflower coral from the 70s when collecting it was still legal. Now they make some amazing synthetic coral replicas for marine aquarists, which is much more sustainable since many reefs are in danger of bleaching.

coral reefs near bali ChatGPT Bali is home to several excellent coral reef sites, popular among divers and snorkelers. Key locations include: Menjangan Island: Located in the northwest, part of Bali Barat National Park, known for vibrant reefs and abundant marine life. Tulamben: Famous for the USAT Liberty shipwreck, offering rich coral gardens. Amed: Features a diverse range of coral reefs, suitable for both beginners and experienced divers. Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan: Off Bali's southeast coast, these islands offer pristine coral reefs and the chance to see manta rays and mola mola (sunfish). Padang Bai: Offers Blue Lagoon and Jepun dive sites, known for colorful corals and diverse marine species.

Haa! 50:14 That was So Fast. The other one didn't even realize what just happened. 😆👍 Although now that I think about it I could've sworn I saw a different documentary talking about how those specific fish actually being an intrusive species in some other location where they didn't used to live and now they population is exploding and messing things up for native fish.

Doesn't anyone who works at, or otherwise participates in, this sight speak English? You can not have an extraordinarily unique anything. Unique cannot be modified with adjectives, otherwise it's not unique. A unique coral reef may be extraordinarily beautiful or extraordinarily deep or shallow, that doesn't diminish it's uniqueness,

You misspelled ‘site’ as in website. You spelled it “sight”. Ironic that you didn’t ‘see’ that.
