The man convicted of the 1964 rape and murder of Kitty Genovese, who was repeatedly stabbed on a New York street while neighbors largely ignored her cries for help, has died after almost 52 years in prison, officials said. Winston Moseley, a psychopathic serial killer and necrophiliac, was 81 years old when he died at the maximum security Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York, on March 28, according to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. #InsideEdition

What a tragic story, she was attacked for 30 minutes and anyone could have saved her...but no one came to her rescue. How sad and her attacker lived to 81 yrs old, free room and board but she died a brutal death by his hands.

The sad thing is that in New York, this still happens. Surprisingly enough, it happened in Queens, New York, near the N and Q trains not long ago. A homeless man stopped THE SAME THING from happening to woman and he got stabbed by the culprit who fled he was bleeding out. Meanwhile, as people got off trains EVERYONE walked by as he was dying asking for help. Some degenerate even took a photo of him as he lay dying. The next morning the paper stated: "What does this say about us New Yonkers?" It's really sad, especially from New York, a city that plays John Lennon's song Imagine at New Years.

Just watched a documentary where one of her brothers researched that night. It was very interested. It's called Witness. The man that killed her is still a monster. He tried to blame the murder on her saying she was using racial slurs. First off, not okay to murder someone either way and second off according to her brother he is also suspected of killing a black woman so what is his excuse for that one?

I learnt this in yr 11 psych! But we learnt the old ‘37 watched and did nothing’ story! Wasn’t till the yr later when I researched the bystander effect as a stand alone topic that I discovered the times blew what was reported to the police out of proportion and also chose to exclude certain information. Like the statement from the son of one of kitty’s neighbours who heard the commotion, realised after a bit of communication with other neighbours in the building that it was kitty, and rushed to her aid in the final 5 mins or so of her life! He states that his mothers held kitty in her arms as she died. The police failed to properly question all residents, that woman being one, and the times reporters also decided to not hear the complaints made by the family when they were quoted as having ‘done nothing’. Look up the documentary I think it’s called ‘witness’ possible on Netflix 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s all from the perspective of her brother trying to figure or what happened and why. Very good watch 👍

Very sad, I just learned of this story, Kitty Genovese, in my Ethics course. Unintentionally, I think about the young boy in the Bronx, Junior, who was slaughtered by a group of men and nobody helped☹😢😢 It is sad to see history does repeat itself. May they both rest easy.

Similar to this case. Just last year, Lesandro Guzman-Feliz was killed by a gang. There was people all around watching and recording him being killed stabbed. but no one wanted to help the poor boy. He was only 15. Worst part they mistaken him for someone from their rival gang.

I’ve watched every story correcting and attempting to soften up the reality of their actions that night. And I never go away feeling better about those people who saw, who listened, who heard, who shut their windows. The story only demonstrates the point in the 20th century that it was clear that humans in cities behave like a nest of vampires. The bystander effect is loud and proud today, every time we watch a cop brutalize someone and we stand around and allow them to. Sometimes we’ll record them killing someone, and not lift a finger to help the victim. I bet it happens daily, to individuals.

People's morals seem warped these days. They refuse to help others in need (bystander effect) and then at the same time get on social media proclaiming themselves to be beacons of morality (virtue signalling). It's shameless hypocrisy at its most blatant and intrusive.

Such a sad and painful story a life taken too soon! The murderer lives till the age of 81 on the tax payers dime. What’s even sadder is that horrific actions like these still take place today! Think about it If you were to ever find yourself in such a situation what would be your expectations of others? When you answer that question then you’ll know how to respond to someone else in need. Wake up world It’s time to step up and extend a helping hand.

Something like this happened when I was about 15 years old. After I came from school I heard a noise of a person screaming and gaging from our front neighbours' house. I asked our housekeeper and she said, she been hearing the noise since morning. What has happened was our front door neighbours(drug dealers) has beaten an individual. But I never did call the police (119 code in Sri Lanka) because I was afraid the officers would tell on us and when my father come from work at late at night they would harm him. The gaging and the screaming faded in the evening. I never know what happened after to that person.
