Spoiler Alert>>> In the final episode Mike accidentally kills God, which causes the heavens to crash down upon the earth in the form of the firmament, which was what ancient people used to believe in (just as many of those flat-earthers still do). They believed the stars were encased in a dome that covered a flat earth. In the episode, the dome is crashing down upon the planet, about to crush the characters, killing them. And since there's no afterlife, they're just going to be wiped from existence. Or perhaps Hell still exists and they all go there by default. Regardless, they are all dead.

@@mrbleak9873 sickles would have similar problems as the bayonets, and hammers aren't that reliable in killing someone with a helmet on. But yes, small melee weapons were still of great utility in the trenches
