I don't live in USA i am from Greece and we have ( surprise !!!) the same promplem ...at list the last 15 years .....Hogs they have not natural enemies here they met with open farm pigs ( becouse of a agriculture program of eu for the open farms ) and the lows for hunding and hunding guns is far deferend than usa ...we didn't allow military guns only guns for hunding ... The hogs is now spread all over the main land and sometimes came to the doors in villages , even in the suburban area of Athens ,we have car accidents with hogs every year more often ...αnd .the meat of a Hong who has 10 euros per kilo now is 5 euros per kilo and sometimes even less..... Last years officially hunders kill more than 55000 hogs but is note enough... Greetings from greece .. ( I do and some practice to right in English 😂😂😂)

No, not 'the land' but 'your crops'. Get it straight = hogs R 'nature'. We R the 'invasive species' =)) They don't know or care about your 'mortgage'. What a pack of fools. Hunting seasons are for wildlife. Feral hogs are not wildlife, they are a destructive animal introduced eons ago by early Spanish explorers for meat and added to from escaped domestic hogs and their high reproductive rate. I just wish there was a way to use the meat.

You know how the Spaniards still like to claim their gold when found by treasure hunters. Maybe they can come reclaim their hogs they left behind. Or just shipp the dead hogs to their front door for them to deal with.

Feral hogs were released by various colonists in the 16th and 17th century but they were small and did not breed in great numbers. The current explosion of feral hogs is due to an intermix of modern pigs and feral hogs in the last 20+ years. Farmers have had several centuries to breed a much larger and less aggressive pig, however, when they have escaped through Mother Nature (floods, hurricanes, abandoned farms, etc) the “super pigs” inter-bred with feral hogs resulting in larger and larger feral pigs with the worst of both worlds, nasty as a feral pig and as large as a domestic one. Their young female piglets begin having babies six months after leaving their mothers. That’s a trait developed from human selection so more pork in less time. This is no one’s fault, just another unintended consequence of several human and nature incidents that favored the feral hog. Ideally, a new breed of domesticated pig will come out of this that’s less susceptible to viruses that’s plaguing today’s commercial farming. In the meantime, “shoot ‘em if ya got ‘em.
