I was a patrol deputy in a central valley California area that was busy for 15 years. I've experienced some scary, traumatic and wild stuff but nothing like Dobyn's career. Policing is linked to sports and the military because of the type of people it attracts. People who like to compete. Once you've been scared out of your wits and know that death can be the outcome, it becomes addictive. The streets get into your blood and "normal" life isn't enough. I think that's why a lot of cops have mental health trouble after retiring. I left because of injury in 2019. I miss it but I've grown into "civilian life" and don't miss the constant stress of today's policing world. To be a street cop today, which is only 7 years since I left, I believe is incredibly more difficult. In the world of social media and everything heavily politicized it's too easy for a street cop to get railroaded in a bad incident that the optics are bad on. The general public doesn't understand the animal of policing and how dangerous and unpredictable it is. They see cops as heavy handed or over zealous in tactics not realizing this is how we are trained. When policing as a patrol officer, a "routine" traffic stop or disturbance call or 911 hangup can turn into a hellish nightmare in a second. Looking back, I really don't believe policing is healthy for most folks for more than 10-20 years. It's a toxic environment at best.

I agree with your statement. & I couldn't imagine being a cop at any point in time, especially today. My thing is, the constant harassment & assault on our rights and freedoms. The absurd tickets & subsequent fines. They're complete horsesh!t. (Not to mention unlawful, although very few know that.. Unless you profit from driving aka commerce, you aren't legally obligated to have a driver's license OR tags to travel in your private property. OR abide by the nonsense codes and statues. *It's when you get that license you sign away your rights* Read Uslawbooks / travel if you don't believe me. Kinda like how you become financial cattle the second your parents sign your birth certificate, but that's a whole different thing. Anyway) Pulling people over for not using a turn signal or a light out & doing anything besides making them aware is unacceptable. It doesn't help keep our community safe. it isn't building good relationships. It is doing ONLY negative things. Besides for you guys, putting $ in your pocket. You'd think taxes & selling all the stolen property from people would be enough but. Nope gotta also steal time and money from people that worked for it. (People also aren't aware PDs and courts are their own companies. & Judges have their own little clubs essentially. Everything's a fkn racket) Asking where we've been, where we're going. What's in the car. Absolutely none of your business. If we're not causing trouble or even affecting anyone else's lives, damaging property etc. Police should mind their own business. There's PLENTY of corrupt officials & evil companies doing unspeakable things, poisoning our environment, putting toxins in every consumable. But nope! Gotta harass & rob the average guy, while all the actual demons conduct their business with impunity. & I'm not putting a blanket on all cops either. there's a lot of great men and women that are one. It's the people at the top making the evil decisions. & Always will be. BUT until they have robocops, the unjust laws and rules cannot be enforced UNLESS the patrolmen do it for them. (& There's way too many that choose their job over what's right) lord knows these bums never do their own bidding or get their own hands dirty. Ok that's all I had to say lol. Hope you were one of the good ones, fellow Jeff

Just wanna say thank you for your service, despite all the bs politics and general consensus of police, i believe most of you guys are putting your life on the line and truly want to protect and serve. I cant even imagine to understand what it's like being in the lines of danger on a day to day basis.
@MatthewLye

Its been my belief for a long time that people generally think of violence in a slowly escalating process where you inch towards violence in some sort of stepped process. The reality is if you go into that situation and they go straight to step ten and you went from step one to two then you end up dead. Your only real choice is to go to zero to ten faster or hope they only go from one to five, but police are prevented from doing so by social expectations which makes the role inherently more dangerous the less the public trusts in policing agencies.

Cause he did a terrible job 81 knew he was a cop Jay Dobyns is not a legend, you do know he never was a full member and lied right? You have to know a member for atleast 5 years before even becoming a hangaround then that takes 1-2 years then when become prospect that takes 2 or more years before being a member, and he says he was a member in 2 years! Its all bullshit, 81 mc members have said he never patched in, even ex 81 mc members say it to, no undercover cop has ever become a full member in 81 mc, even watch Peewee interview on KZfaq on Vegas profile stories he talks about it, Jay Dobyns is a fraud and a liar

He really does listen thankfully. I do wish he would get a greater diversity is guests. I really would love for him to interview people who do service work like those who work in places like mental institutions, domestic abuse shelters long term medical care facilities. Their stories are never told, yet if you ever listened to some of their experiences it would stun you. Obviously it wouldn’t be as popular, but we really need to bring light into some of these dark places they don’t make action movies about.
