Rimworld Biotech brought a new mechanic to the game being pollution. Pollution can be exploited to produce infinite power with very little downside. So how does it work and how do I gain unlimited power while causing mass global warming?

pollux trees are also a good option. the seeds are about 1400 silver and sometimes exotic goods traders will carry 1 or 2 of them. every 20 hours they remove a tile of pollution in a radius around them. since each waste pack make 6 tiles of pollution when it decays, in theory, 6 pollux trees can handle a waste pack per day. i find them to be a nice way to get rid of pollution before i can get atomisers, since they scale and only cost money.

So two trees per generator is enough to negate their effects?

Especially considering its downside is borderline negligible in the early-mid game. Raiders don't even target them

They are great but be careful because thrumbos can apparently eat them so if you have any tamed make a zone that puts the pollux tree off limits

This is a good point, I did not mention them much but they can work. The biggest downsides are they are soil based whereas a pump and generator can be placed on pure rock. They also require purchasing/finding and are at the mercy of certain large herbivores. BUT great option if those variables are controllable

pirates can shoot waste packs back but tribals probably can't

To be fair, 3 pump, 6 generators and a wastepack atomizer give positive energy while being completely green and needing only a bit of hauling from time to time.

This is exactly why I avoid them, the threat to deal with to get a single one going is not worth imo. Lots of better uses for the material

If they throw garbage in my colony the only logical thing to do is to responsibly send ten times as much right back at them.

Thanks for the warning lol, i took a mission where i recieved 97 waste packs in exchange for a masterwork shotgun, a marine helmet, and like 4k silver and just couldn't say no. I have had them in the freezer for like... a while now and finally had drop pods and was considering dropping them onto an annoying raider enemy that keeps raiding me lol. Now i'll just shoot them somewhere else and just use mods to fire missiles at their tile instead because i can tank a few hits of that without lasting consequences when they shoot back.

What about the polox trees how come you did not talk about those
@OneHunchMan
@OneHunchMan Жыл бұрын
pinned a comment about them,. They are a great option but I have had a colony run 10 years on 10+ toxifier generators and disposing wastepacks is really not an issue. The other pro of not using tree's is that you can have your generators and pumps inside caves. Still tree's are not a bad solution for soil based generator placement

So I did a little maths ..you say 2 toxifiers produce 2600w but before you said 1 is 1400w which is whatever. But at 2/3 waste packs for 2, and if you have 10, that'd be 3.333 / day , to hit 2k is 600 days, or 1.643 years, not 5. Lemme know if I did something wrong

He netted the pollution pump power consumption. Regardless, the new bioferrite generator now literally screams at your pawn gives you a whooping 4000w by far the safest, cleanest and loud power generation you can be happy with(disclaimers, pawn excluding anomalous entities are required to fuel these machines.

I'm still disapointed you cant make soylent green out of wastepacks
@MyNameIsXYlp
@MyNameIsXYlp 7 ай бұрын
you can make soylent green by feeding _totally not corpses_ into a paste dispenser, then feeding that paste into another paste dispenser. The second paste machine now dispenses soylent green.
