Hi everyone! In today's video I break down UCLA dining plans in hopes that it will help you all better understand UCLA's meal plans and how to choose your own. We have some of the most amazing foods here at the UCLA dining halls so congrats new Bruins, you're in for a treat! I’m in 9th grade and I really wanted to go to Stanford but I watched their dining halls and there wasn’t really any food I liked so it showed me it wasn’t the school for me but I said that to say it’s great to start watching videos like these early

Are the dining halls closed for any part of the day (like between lunch and dinner)? And if so, what are the regular hours? I'm starting in the fall and trying to figure out when is the best time to eat lunch since I have classes around lunchtime. Thank you so much!

You can buy more but they're expensive so you have to track your swipes and budget them out! Thanks!

Hey Cindy, I will be attending UCLA in the fall and I got the 14P plan! I love your vlogs and the food at the dining halls always looks soo good! Quick question though, what if you run out of swipes like towards the end of the week, can you pay for a mealt at the dining hall like in cash or are you only able to eat there with your bruin card?

+Heydy Arias That's awesome!! CONGRATS! And aww thank you! Since you have 14P you can actually use your meals from the next week to, basically you have all your meals at once and you can swipe as many times, but at the end of the quarter and you do run out of meals, which if you keep track of them you won't then you have to put money on your bruin card to eat

which of the dining halls should one attend? what are the differences? where are they? where can v see the menu? how do we see meal periods times? can you pack leftovers? if u have a 14 meal plan (no P) how many items can you get for say a lunch for it to count as one meal? so, in that case, it would always make sense to always eat at a dining hall instead of a restaurant (if u can), right? bcoz u get more food for a meal swipe?

i'm in a little dilemma. i eat 3 meals a day (sunday-thursday), but i am going to be at home every week for saturday (so 0 meals are going to be needed at saturday ) and half of friday ( 2 meals are going too be needed on fridays). i don't know what meal plan will be the best for me. i would appreciate some help pleaseeee

Can you pay cash in the dining halls if you are out of swipes? And, can you get a meal plan if you live off campus? I suppose you’ve graduated by now so sorry I’m asking this about three years too late :D

Hi! I went there 15 years ago and this might have changed but you cannot pay cash. Each dorm has a front desk and you can buy vouchers for guests there. And yes you can get a meal plan without living there, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The closest dining halls to campus are Bruin Plate and De Neve, which are 20 min walk from the other side of campus.

if you have P and you swipe your friend in...does your friend's swipe count as one of your 19 meals? also, do you have to eat in the dining halls or can you pack up a tupperware with the buffet food and eat somewhere else?

Yes that counts as two swipes, one for yourself nd one for your friend. No tupperware allowed!

cant decide between ucla and usc, the price is obviously better at ucla but usc has gated campus, which might be safer..

something I may consider in that is that Ucla actually has police officers and security guards, while usc only has security guards. and USC is also in East LA, which is WAYYY more danger than West LA, where UCLA is located. USC is probs more convenient since it's closer to downtown LA, which also makes it a lot less safe. UCLA is like closer to Beverley Hills & Hollywood, putting it in the more wealthy districts.

I went there 15 years ago and I came to check how it has changed. The 14+ is plenty because it is too hard to get back to the dorms for lunch, at least it was for me. I would also go out on the weekends and explored the city so I only ate one meal on campus. I also went to visit my family. And one big component of this: if ANYONE is taking out loans to pay for school, they HAVE NO BUSINESS GETTING A 19P. It’s a luxury. I didn’t get money from my parents so I tried my hardest to keep my costs as low as possible

cmscms123456 There’s no need to be condescending “hun”. Meal plan prices could-and probably will-change every year. A quick google search will show you the prices. I’m inclined to believe that the purpose of this video was to just clarify the different plans.
