Infiniti Check Engine Light PO171 Lean

The Infiniti arrived at the garage with no check engine light initially and a noticeable hesitation when accelerating.
During the road test the check engine light did eventually illuminate and I did feel an intermittent hesitation when accelerating from a stop.
After a brief inspection it was quickly noted that the air induction boot had separated and was sucking in air. This would make perfect sense, as the computer did store a bank one system lean fault ( PO171).
I always like to keep the duck tape around my vehicle just in case something like this happens ...you can easily temporarily bandage the area of leaks until you get it to a point of a permanent repair.

I’m glad he said what he did about the oil change. My SES light came on and gave bank one running lean code and I just had my oil change 3 weeks ago at the dealer ship. Took off and cleaned the MAF sensors already but the light came back on after two runs or so by later last night. Hopefully this ends up being all it is... Only one way to find out. 🤷🏽‍♂️

AWESOME VIDEO! I have a 2008 M45 that threw the same code and noticed the guy prior to me put in a cold air intake. Hopefully going back stock will clear that. Mass flow air sensor maybe?

My 2008 G35x just got that P0171 code. After shutting the car off, i notice a faint smell that lingers briefly. I can't describe it. Got an oil change and inspection but can't find an issue

I have an 2012 infiniti g25 and when i start it up and put it into drive it hesitate to first gear than it picks up but it only strugles to catch the gear when im stopped at a light or pulling off. What can be the problem is it limp mode ? I dont know what to do

Thanks for the video. I am actually in the market for an used SUV and the Infinity FX 35 is actually one of the SUV's I been considering. I have found many of them online with high milage. Any tips or key things to look for on this particular vehicle??

P. Vargas Please have inspected by local certified garage /technician. Like buying a home and related purchase ~ must do the same for a used vehicle to protect your wallet. Otherwise if this vehicle has been maintained and has a history of service ~ you should be good to go. My 2004 G35 coupe has a shakiness when idling. This goes away when I push on gas; doesn’t happen when I drive the car. I have a 75mm throttle body on my car, along with a Z1 cold air intake and high flow cats. Scanner reads P0171, and after doing research I’m leaning towards a bad fuel pressure regulator. Could there be any other possible causes, one that is possibly due to the air mods I have on my car?

I have the same issue on my 2011 Infiniti g37x, my oil indicator just came on today. I'm going to get an oil change this wkend. Should that fix the issue, or perhaps changing my air filters/MAPS sensor?

Anthony Harden ...definetely start with an oil change to ensure proper lubrication for top end valve train components. Proper oil flow there is critical. Otherwise pay close attention to unmetered air~~let me know how it all works ~Frank.

Ultimately check for a lean condition ~ vacuum leaks , check fuel pressure to ensure not below spec . Pay close attention to air induction plumbing to make sure not sucking air ~ start here ~ let us know if you need further help ~ good luck !

Ive been dealing with this issue for a few months on 2005 g35 coupe, after today finally deciding to replace a Torn throttlebody rubber pipe, then I find out the aftermarket one I ordered was too small.. smh, and had to tape up old one until oem used one comes in mail. - Anyways, Driving is fine although im taking it easy, ..--- its when its in Park/idle where the Rpms Drop too much/bogg down. -Is this a sign it could be something more than just a vacuum leak? Also ive been trying to fix the p0462 Low Level Circut.. ive replaced the Fuel Pump assembly, and next is driver side sender assembly. But everything on internet is telling me its my Faulty fuel gauge cluster (jumps up/down never accurate). Do you have any experience with that issue? Thanks if you can reply

Have this and just can't figure out what's up, rpm jumping around, cleaned throttle, changed maf, what else, just don't see any damaged hose, anything else?

I had a Injen CAI installed w/ a Jet mass air flow sensor and got code: P0171 after about 2 weeks (05 G35 coupe)

@@javidplummer410 the mass air flow sensor is what alerted the codes. I ended removing mass airflow sensor and she's running good.

I have a 2006 infiniti fx35 AWD. For some reason my ignition coils keep burning out one at a time and cause the cars acceleration to be very rough. Anything it could be? I changed valve covers already and there was some oil in one of the holes so I changed all spark plugs after cleaning everything and still had the same issue the other day. Can you help me with this please!

I had this problem with mine blowing out random coils and it was my ground cable to my battery shorting out. Had to replace it and fixed my issue.

too much air. cold air only for looks, no gain in performance.

of u want the look, change fuel injectors to a higher CC. Thereby air & fuel mix r the same

I am having the same check engine code show up on my 2005 350z. I have replace Mass Air Flow sensor and o2 sensors as preventative maintenance. I have checked for vacuum leaks and I cannot find any. Any suggestions?

NGARCIA350z _ ~ need to really watch waveform of secondary igniting ~ plugs & coils . May be breaking down causing tip in hesitation ~ hard to say ~ call me at the garage if you like ~

Desert Car Care I did find out there’s was a loose spark plug on bank 1. The car doesn’t hesitate as much but it still brakes up a little on idle sounds like it’s on bank 1. I do have some modifications but I don’t think are the cause of my car throwing this code.

I have a 2006 G35 and It was running perfect and it rained on day and I passed it through a pretty deep puddle and now the check engine light is on its not flashing and it still run but I'm scared to drive it cause I don't want to cause major problem so if you have any advice please let me know I haven't took it to Auto zone yet cause I'm scared to drive it

Ella Washington ~ as long as it drives for that short distance to a local parts house for a quick code pull for a very basic assessment you should be ok ~ worse case - if you need a local repair shop reach out to us & we will refer you a reputable shop

As long as that CEL is on ~ it is considered a fail at emissions ( 1996 & newer )

Those air filter suck on these infinity they break and crumble a lot of plastic parts on these infinity around the engine suck they don’t withstand the heat from the engines very well

Can you clean the MAF sensors??? With out messing them.up????

You can buy a can of CRC mass airflow sensor cleaner at any auto store then unplug the wire harness from the MAF sensor unscrew the sensor hardware and directly spray cleaner into deliberately. It's fast drying formula in about minute or so you can reinstall the sensor plug the harness back and call a day. Remember always disconnect the sensor before cleaning and never touch its internal parts.

I forgot to mention that you have to unplug the sensor from intake before spraying.
