So the reason why Spike is mute is because when he was still a baby Eggman kidnapped him in the middle of the night, Sonic was the first to wake up followed by his other children… as soon as Sonic was in Spike’s room it was too late… Eggman had already taken him to an unknown location far from reach. They were looking for him for weeks until Tails was able to locate them, Sonic and his friends rushed in as soon as possible… Amy and Tails were in charge of finding Spike while Sonic was fighting Eggman and his bots, Eggman was defeated and Spike was found, but something was wrong… Eggman took Spike because he needed a young test subject, so Spike was experimented on and Amy noticed that Spike now had wings. A few months later Sonic and Amy also noticed that Spike was unresponsive, when they took him to a doctor they found out that the experiments Eggman did on Spike caused him to be permanently mute, he now signs to let people know what he wants and what he’s going though.
