AI has transitioned beyond being a buzzword. Gen AI is serious business. Don’t take our word for it, take Nandan Nilekani’s.
Infosys is betting big on artificial intelligence to unlock the next phase of growth for the IT behemoth at a time with US orders have been slow, making a dent in what was once India’s unstoppable IT success story.
Infosys is making early investments to develop capabilities through 225 generative AI programs for its clients.
Addressing shareholders at the company’s 43rd Annual General Meeting, Nandan Nilekani said that the world is at a very early stage of the GenAI revolution and unlike consumer AI which will roll out quickly, enterprise AI will take several years to unfold.
Enterprise AI requires companies to make formidable changes to the way they work… creating blueprints for solving industry-specific challenges through AI. Infosys is ready to lead from the front. The Bengaluru-based IT bellwether now sees itself as an AI-first enterprise.
The company up until now has built domain-relevant enterprise AI capabilities and created 23 AI industry blueprints to solve industry-specific challenges. The IT major also disclosed that it has over 70 AI client advocacies and 46 AI patents filed last year alone.
Nilekeni also emphasised on how the company has invested in hiring talent with proven generative AI skills as well as upskilling the existing engineering talent. Currently, Infosys has over 2,50,000 employees who are trained in the areas of generative AI and have already generated over 3 million lines of code using generative AI large language models.
Infosys is making a bold and aggressive push into the AI landscape, signalling a major shift in the industry. Leveraging its cloud platform, Infosys Cobalt, the company is providing cutting-edge cloud solutions to enterprises. But Infosys isn't stopping there; last year, it made a significant investment in Infosys Topaz, an AI-first set of services powered by generative AI technologies.
In a bid to broaden its reach, Infosys has also made a slew of strategic investments. For one, the company acquired InSemi, a leading semiconductor design services provider. This acquisition is not just a boost for Infosys' Chip-to-Cloud strategy but is also significant in the next phase of automotive innovation focusing on software-defined vehicles.
Another strategic acquisition that the company made was in building domain capabilities by acquiring an engineering R&D services firm In-tech.
Additionally, Infosys' acquisition of Danske IT and Support Services in India has strengthened its overall digital talent pool, supporting various programs aimed at scaling AI-driven solutions.
By integrating these diverse AI driven solutions and platforms, Infosys is positioning itself as a frontrunner in the AI race but it is yet to be seen if it will emerge as a gamechanger for the next wave of productivity for enterprises using AI.
