London is going through a period of major investment in new infrastructure in order to meet the burgeoning population growth. This film outlines major new transport infrastructure projects including Crossrail and HS2, the expansion of the Thameslink service and cycling infrastructure, and other projects such as the Thames Tideway Tunnel and Sustainable Urban Drainage systems - all designed to increase the liveability of the capital and help support its project growth.

London definitely needs more pedestrian friendly spaces. Its sad that a lot of places in the north are being neglected.

200m people will have sore bums. I traveled on western section of Crossrail, the seats on the trains are like sitting on an ironing board. The cushion is about an inch thick. The trains on the Bakerloo line are very comfortable in comparison, I’d rather keep the old trains. I remember the cushions on the old slam door trains were 6-8ins thick, although I wouldn’t want to go back to slam door trains, the seats were more comfortable. If there is a Crossrail 2, any company involved with Crossrail 1 should be barred from future contracts. I believe Paris has 6 Crossrail lines currently and a huge Metro & RER expansion programme.

London pays 25 percent of all taxes the government collects in this country. It's right that it receives decent investment. If fact, it's underfunded at the moment and is already propping up the rest of the country.

@@spencerwilton5831 London doesn't prop up the rest of the country. It pays 25 percent of taxes because the size of the population almost represents that figure. Much of London's infra-structure is funded by central government who only seem to support major projects which involve London. A classic example is the HS2 railway which nobody wants and will almost certainly run over budget. When it comes to railways, London receives over 2-1/2 times more investment than the remainder of the UK. I'm from south west England but think, instead of HS2, government should spend the money on building another cross rail system connecting the large cities in the north of England. I won't be holding my breath on that one though.

@@MrRQBQ This an old message so sorry for the late reply. Whilst investment is drastically needed for the rest the country Londons contribution to the tax pot is more than it receives in investment. Per capita London residents pay more in tax than they get in return. On the surface when big numbers are used it looks like the balance isn't equal but fiscally the bottom line is very different.

this sounds really good..love London...BUT..you can spend billions when the railway company doesn't know how it works, that train has to come on time...every single minit....still doesn't work

I literally live in mumbai.. are you high? what are you snorting? mumbai is horrible in terms of infrastructure. We Still dont even have a proper metro system yet and london has had the underground since god knows how long. travelling 5km takes 45 mins here . they complain for 20 mins. india is a decade behind in terms of infrastructure at least.
