The BME Life

Hello everyone!
This is a video recording of a meeting I had with a high school student to answer some questions they had about BME. She is in her senior year in a high school in Mexico, and is interested in pursuing BME in Canada.
We talked about the different fields of BME, ways for high school students to get exposure to BME, challenges in BME, my professional experience in BME, how BMEs interact with medical professionals and more!
I hope to add English subtitles soon. But until then, this is avaiable in Spanish only. If you'd like to see a similar video where we also answered questions from a high school student, please check these videos out: • In High School & Think...

Would you say there is any benefit to taking calc and physics in the same semester?

If I remember correctly, Physics uses some calculus so I think it would be helpful to take your first calculus class either before or concurrently

What do you think were the toughest classes when you were getting your bachelors in BME? To be honest I’m struggling with physics and I’m not sure how to improve at it. Any tips?

Honestly, physics 2 was the only class I was ever close to failing 😅 so don’t blame you haha. I don’t think it was the toughest though, it was just my first semester taking engineering courses and I didn’t know how to learn/study. I also wasn’t super responsible in attending class so that was also a factor.. one thing that would hurt me for physics and other math courses, is that when studying, I would read over problems and think I understood them. But at the moment that I had the blank question in the test, I had forgotten how to start. I found the trick was to truly test myself at home, make myself solve problems without looking at notes until I couldn’t move forward. That was just me of course, but it’s all about dedicating time and practice. And finding how you learn best.

No se si haya alguna manera directa, pero indirectamente, el calentamiento global tiene un impacto en la salud. Y pues ahí entra BME definitivamente 😊
